Question about lifting + training

Hey Adam you should be trying to eat 5-6 meals a day. You should also be eating eating real food (chicken, steak, tuna etc) not protein bars etc is good way to start, but if you have to supplment go with protein powder (100% whey) this way you will still meet your protein requirments.

You should be also counting your calories, I know it sucks but once you get used to it you will be fine. I also suggest you head to t-mag.com and read up their articles on dieting. Hope this helps, best of luck.
