Do you like a tighter gi with a short skirt or a gi with more room and longer skirt?
Ive been rolling in the same Kamikazee Judo gi since the late 90s. Its worn but still useable... it was the first actual grappling gi I bought and was worth the 200 bucks. It has a longer skirt on it and Im very use using the skirt as a handle and a tool when I roll.
But I notice basically ALL JJ gis have a very small skirt, is it so you can slip it out of your belt easily?

Too long of a skirt, it gets caught on your opponents feet in guard or other. Too short and it can be easily pulled out to be used against you.
For tightness, it only matters with the lapels such that they are closer to your body so people don't get a good grip easily.
The skirt on my gi comes to about mid thigh. For the most part it only comes out of my belt if I pull it out... and I like it that way. Ive seen guys with gis that only have a 3 inch .... uh .... skirt.
I like the more modern one piece tops. Skirts can get tangled in feet too easy. Not having one can make some chokes tougher to catch, though.

Kumite4 -Older gis, especially judo, have different weaves for the skirt. One piece would be like a single weave for the entire coatzora_d_1991 - I like the more modern one piece tops. Skirts can get tangled in feet too easy. Not having one can make some chokes tougher to catch, though.

It just means that there isn't a seperate, sewn in skirt to lengthen it. I have an Atama gi with a skirt that I love, too.
oooohhhh gotcha ..... And yes my judo gi does have a seperate skirt sewn onto it.
I really like the skirt though, Its limp and I can use it to wrap things when I grip it.
