I will admit right off the bat, that I can’t stand Donald Trump. I think he’s an embarrassment to our country. I’m sure that pisses some of you, but that is for sure not my intention.

I also think it’s ridiculous for people to act like he has done serious irreparable damage. Compared to The Bush administration he has done very little tangible harm to our soldiers or citizens.

I agree that protecting our borders is a serious issue. This open borders idea some people seem to love is ridiculous at this point in time. I do hope for a time where people everywhere can come and go as they want without imaginary lines stopping them, but that is just not the case right now.

Maybe it’s an emotional reaction of mine, but I love that people see America as this once in history type country where people really do have the opportunity to live a good life if you are willing to work for it no matter your race or social class(whether that has ever actually been completely true or not is a different story, but it’s more true here than basically anywhere else in the world).
Honestly I’m having trouble pinpointing exactly how that benefits us in a way that you can point at and is easily demonstrated. The difference is your opinion of him is based on how he makes you feel. My opinion of him is based on what he is actually doing, and I like 80% of what he is doing as president. Sure, he occassionaly makes me face palm and think, "WTF are you doing Donny?", but he mostly is on the right track.
I'm not concerned with the US gaining a favorable opinion from other countries. I'm concerned that this country maintains it's prosperity and strength. That our rights are protected, and our laws enforced.

To me it's about what's doing what is right, and that outweights doing what is popular. That said, what is right and what is wrong is not always exactly black and white and there is room for discussion on many of today's political topics, but that is for another thread.

I agree with your description of him completely. And still support him and will voe for him again. He may be all those things, but he's still the best president we've had in a long long time.
