QUESTIONS ABOUT EDDIE BRAVO DVD'S

I hear Joe Rogan talk alot about the concepts of Eddie Bravo's style of Jujitsu but i'm not "big time" enough to get invited to 10th planet yet with a place to stay in order to train, but the fighters who have cross trained there all have positive things to say. Until I reach that level I must rely on various mma and jitz dvd's to learn more things and "crosstrain" myself. I hear about "mission control" and the "rubber guard" and "twister" but all the moves seem to be flexibility needed, or am I wrong? because I am not flexible AT ALL! Can you do his style of jits not being flexible? are his dvd's good quality? because alot of dvd's I have gotten have been waste of money...like 8 outta every 10 actually. I saw that he is coming out with a choke dvd called "fade to black" (LOVE the name) that seems interesting to me but wanted to make sure that the dvd's are high quality and good instruction before I bought it. So if anyone has some Eddie Bravo dvd feed back please let me know or I know he is on these forums to so if he could give feed back that would be cool....thanx!

I personally enjoyed the prank with that HUGE Samoan dude.

Mastering the rubber guard has very good quality and instruction. He breaks stuff down so its easy to understand and does everything in steps as you progress down the path. Eddy does stress on the dvds that if you want to get serious about mastering the system then you should take your flexibility training serious as well.

Is this thread a call out to Eddie so he'll post here and invite you to train ?

If so, then good show !

Just an FYI the Fade to Black DVD's are by Brandon Quick a brown belt in Eddies system.  The half guard stuff is great and would not require a ton of flexibilty.  The actual rubber guard stuff you do need some flexibility.

As for the instruction it is great.  It is broken down well and thoroughly explained.

Your flexibility maybe a problem. That said, the dvds are great IMO.

My hips are pretty tight, and I can do all of the fundamental moves in the Rubber Guard system. That said, Eddie does stress the importance of increasing your range of motion, and practices what he preaches. When he does the moves, it looks a lot different than when I do.

Great place to start is Mastering the Rubber Guard book. DVDs are tremendous, too.

The dvd is not only one of the most useful in terms of new/fresh techniques. But its also entertaining / fun to watch.

I would say get the book first. See if you can do the RG moves, and if you can, then get the DVDs. I find they work well together, and really compliment each other well.

Alot of people will complain about all the filler (Pranks, Eddie's music, and Joey Karate), but originally, it was going to be a 2 disc set, and they expanded it to 3. Your not losing anything by getting the extras, you're just getting more.

LOL naw! when im at that level im sure I will get alot of invites from various people I was genuinely curious. I see Brandon Quick actually posted a vid...thanx bro, and if the Bravo dvd's are as good as you guys say then I'm sure his student will make a good dvd as well. Imma buy it when it comes out in april..thanx everyone

OH YEA! also guys...what are the best streches to get flexible for jitz?

He has a lot of the stretches in his book.  I would suggest lots of hip stretches, hamstring stretches etc.

For a lot of newer Rubber Guard and other 10th Planet stuff check out 10thplanetdfw.com.  It is a great site constantly has new techniques on it.

Yoga also rocks. If you have the Oxygen network on your cable provider, there's a show on at 6am called Inhale. It will giet you started down the road to yoga. Steven Kesting also has a DVD out called Yoga for Martial Arts.
