Questions about Star Trek "Transporter"

So trekkies,

I was thinking about this because I was reading an article on energy and trade.

Suddenly I wondered, how the heck does the Star Trek transporter work and then I had questions.

Please help me by telling me everything about it.

Thank you.

For your troubles...

Like, if the transporter breaks down matter, turns it to energy, and then re-assembles it elsewhere, why can't someone just take any kind of matter or for that matter just energy, and start making their own evil army?

Again, for your troubles...

As an electrician, I expected more from you.

So, it's not really the same person but just a copy being generated from matter?

So someone could just start using matter/energy and start replicating the same person?

Like we could all have our own copy of our favourite porn star who would be for all intents and purposes the actual porn star?

Also, for your toubles...

^she's nude alot in homeland season 1

Also, how does the transporter reconstitute people on another planet with no pod there to receive the energy?

Again...for troubles...

Star Trek is for pussies.

USS Callister is the true GOAT. Everybody knows that.

New theory is that you’re consciousness/soul/being can be downloaded and transported via lasers at the speed of light where upon reaching destination it will then be put in an robot that will essentially be you but wearing clothes.

Do they have transporters?

Also, why no transporters in Star Wars?

So that would mean that consciousness is an energy that cannot be replicated but simply moved while your body is just matter that hold the stored consciousness energy?

They never really addressed the answer in the show... but physicists suggest it takes less energy to destroy and re-create than disassemble & move the original matter and re-assemble at the other end

So it's like the teleporting man in the prestige? I think you just blew my mind.

The transporter, warp drive, tricorder, communicator & universal translator are all devices that allow the writers can get on with the plot, rather than get hung up on procedure & pace every episode like 2001 A Space Odyssey.

That's the actual answer. There is a book titled Star Fleet Technical Manual that covers all the bullshit answers you're looking for, another version of that for Next Generation, & a Lawrence Krauss book titled The Physics of Star Trek that is less bullshity but more of a physics sales pitch to dabblers than anything actually about Star Trek.

Transporters can't be used for cloning don't remember exactly how it was done in the show but living beings have a different set of rules then everything else. You need an original and once it is reconstructed the pattern is gone and can't be used again because of science and stuff....
