Quinoa vs. brown rice

I absolutely hate brown rice and refuse to eat it.

Do any of you think quinoa is a just as good if not better complex carb source?

I just started easting it recently...never even know it existed. Not sure the carb source is better, but it is superior to brown rice as far as the quality of the protein goes.

I think Quinoa has some of the highest protein of any grain.

Good source of non soluble fibre so it cleans you out.

Yes,quinoa has a complete amino acid profile. As far as I know it is the only grain that does.

I am just curious as to the pros of eating it as my primary fuel/carb source.

oops.

amen turduck

I started eating quinoa after I read about it in a health mag. Its alright, but I dont think it has much taste at all. Brown rice is the shit!

Quinoa on it's own can be a little bland. Try cooking it in chicken broth with some onions. It's mighty tasty after you do that IMO.

Nah,just reduced sodium soy sauce all day w/mine.

Yeah I will have to try that

Great suggestion! I sliced some scallions into mine after reading your post. Made it taste fantastic. I think tomorrow I'll make some and add some honey. We'll see how it works.

For Quinoa and rice I tend to throw a lot of veggies in while their cooking. Adds flavor and makes it even healthier.

I mixed fresh basil, spinach, olives ad sliced tomatoes into my quinoa the other day, and had it with some chicken breasts. Turned out awesome.

Cooked some quinoa yesterday in chicken broth. Had cooked chicken over the top of that and on top of the chicken I put some diced tomatos mixed with a diced hot peper (both simmered).  Very good.

I love Quinoa. Good stuff.

Quinoa, Millet, Buckwheat, and Amaranth are the goods!!

we serve quinoa with honey, dried cherries scallions and seasoning at my restaurant. I love it.

Would that be what is called EAA (Essential Amino Acids) in "supplement language" ?

Not sure.

I think there are only 3 amino acids that are considered essential(leucine, valine and isoleucine)

I dont know if those are what makes up a "complete profile"or not.

After a little research on google I found this.

The essential amino acids are fenylalanin, isoleucin, leucin, lysin, metionin, treonin, tryptofan och valin (arginin and histidin are essentiella for kids).

I cant find any of these in quinoa. Do you have a source or article for the content of quinoa?
