On November 20, 2012 around 7 p.m. AST, Camacho was shot multiple times in Puerto Rico. The driver of Camacho's car was killed in the attack. Several news agencies are reporting that that Camacho, 50, was seated in a vehicle when he was shot by unknown individuals from a passing car. According to El Nuevo Herald, Camacho was shot in the neck and face and taken to a Rio Piedras Medical Center, where he is listed as being in grave condition. Police said a chase took place and the van that held the shooting was found in the area of Jardines de Cataño. They arrested one of the suspects around 9pm AST.
Even though he was a boxer, he was a combat sports champion. Prayers and positive thoughts to the Camacho family.

"SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — Police in Puerto Rico say former boxing champion Hector “Macho” Camacho has been shot and critically wounded.
Camacho was shot in the face while in a car outside a bar in Bayamon, one of the cities that make up the San Juan metropolitan area. A statement from police in Bayamon said he was shot Tuesday night.
A second man also was shot and killed but authorities say it is not clear what relationship, if any, Camacho had with the other victim. The motive was unknown.
The 50-year-old former boxer was unconscious as he was taken to the trauma center at Centro Medico in San Juan. Hospital officials told reporters he was in serious condition."
