The war of words continues between “The Ultimate Fighter 10″ coaches Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Rashad Evans, as Rampage claims the Jackson Submission-trained fighter was “afraid” in his first-ever title defense at UFC 98.

“I think he was afraid,” Rampage told MMAWeekly.com of Evans’ gun-shyness during his 2ndRound loss to Lyoto Machida. “That’s what made him mess up. He didn’t do nothing — that’s what his mistake was. He let Machida do everything.

Not only did Rampage call out Evans for his unwillingness to bring the fight to the elusive Brazilian, but he also said that he should have kept his mouth shut throughout the title scrap, especially while he was getting rained on.

“Plus, he’s talking while Machida was trying to knock him out,” Rampage questioned. “He’s not defending … he’s talking. How you gonna talk while somebody’s trying to knock your head off? What do you do? Ask him to stop? What are you doing?”

While getting pelted with Machida’s fists, but before he was sent tumbling down, Evans states that he was telling Machida, “Man, you hit like a…

While he was getting bombed on?!

When asked what Rampage would have done differently, the former UFC light heavyweight champ said he would probably push the pace against Machida.

“Yeah,” said Jackson. “I’m an aggressive fighter.”

hes right

Guess Rampage knows what he's talking about it

hubris - "Yeah," said Jackson. "I'm an aggressive fighter."

easy win for Lyoto

Rampage certainly ain't afraid of Machida.

Funny guy.

I still think Rashad would beat Jackson's @ss

not saying that rashad was necessarily scared, but, lots of guys trash talk out of fear. go watch titos fight with chuck. end of first round.

At least Rashad got in the ring, Rampage is the one ducking Machida.

 True.

Shit talking is to project strength to others, and hide the fear that you know you are feelin inside.

You don't have to be afraid of Machida, he'll still make you look like and amateur.

themadrussian -
IrishFighter110 -  says the man who turned down a machida match.

I was about to say that.

I don't mind people bringing up the fact that evans was very conservative, but at least he had the balls to step into the cage.

I like page but quite often his mouth should be sewn shut.

Fuck hypocrisy.

he just had jaw surgery genius.

LOL yeah rampage is afraid of machida, but fought wanderlei 3 times, 2 times when he was straight killer. dont think so noob.

agreed i think if anything rashad took it lightly, he was clearly talking smack throughout the fight, and even if machida hits like a... the culmination of those punches still put him on the floor! i think rampage will have a harder time with rashad than machida. i think his super aggresive style has the chance to overwhelm machida, while vs rashad is a much more conventional fight that greg jackson and rashad know how to fight already. i also think rampage will be wearing gold again very soon!!!

he fought wand 3 times. because wand has weaknesses. wand has lost before. wand has been KTFO before.

wand leaves himself wide open and his style isn't different.

Rampage knows if he goes in there and swings... he will have a chance of winning. So in their 3rd encounter he finally got one back.

the thing with Machida is... he fucking wins. period. you fight him. you lose.

that's scarier to a professional fighter than a hyped up brawler with lots of noticeable flaws that you think you can capitalize on.

Rampage being aggressive isn't going to mean squat against Lyoto

I can't wait to see Rampage put to sleep, that will be a lot of fun.

Ryu > Balrog

yeah.
Joe is loving that shit.

BaddKarma - Wasn't Rampage talking and smiling at Wanderlei, while he was in the process of knocking him out?

He was smiling in their first fight where the ref stopped it, he definitely wasn't smiling before he KO'd halfway out of the ring.
