Rampage: "I'm sponsored by Reebok, UFC wont"

  1. Rampage says he's sponsored by Reebok now, but the UFC isn't allowing him to wear Reebok in the cage next Saturday night.

Has Reebok paid the same sponsorship fee required by all the other sponsors who wish to have their brand represented inside the UFC? If not, then no shit he's not allowed to wear it. If they are willing to pay that fee and still not being allowed then something is screwy, and it may have to do with Rampage's falling out of favor with the UFC, this being his last fight, and them not wanting to make anything easy for him, hence throwing him in there with Texiera.

I'm so over this guy. When was his last legit win over a top 10 guy? I had Machida winning that fight so I don't consider that. Matt Hammill? Keith Jardine? Not since knocking out Wanderlei has Rampage done anything worthy of being this arrogant about. You get paid more than most fighters in the UFC, barely win, yet still manage to talk constant shit about the organization. Goodbye Rampage.

Oh rampage. Crying again. Finish out your contract and dont let the door hit you on the way out. All you care about is money, good luck getting paid elsewhere Phone Post

.... You do realize money is the reason they do this right? They're prize fighters to quote Floyd Mayweather 'we're prize fighters, we fight for a prize you fuckin dummy'

Not calling you a dummy, just quoting Mayweather Phone Post

I hope to just really piss Rampage off, Glover lay n prays him for the first 2 1/2 rounds, and then just heel hooks him or something totally nasty like that.  It would make my day.

The ufc could have thrown him under the bus when he went on his joyride but they didn't. They stuck beside him, got him help and have him a place to make good $. All he does is bitch and complain and he isnt even close to being a draw. He sucks as an actor and he isn't the least bit funny unless you like bad breaf jokes. Can't wait til hes a footnote! Phone Post

Anybody else think the Rampage hate is getting kind of old? Every thread about him turns into the same thing.

I'm willing to bet it's simply because Zuffa wants their athletes to be covered in Nike sponsorships, not a competing brand name on the same plane like Reebok or Adidas.

I understand it, it's a business move. Seriously doubt Reebok couldn't pay the fee to be featured on television sponsoring their fighters.

Nike.

And wow.. The power of propaganda is shown in full force here on the ug. Phone Post

Didn't see this post.

RVD knows.

Maybe Nike, if they have some type of deal with the UFC. Phil Knight caused Kevin Love to not go to Oregon because he wouldn't let his basketball team participate in a big aau tournement because the team was spondored by Adidas or Reebok. Nike can be weird about these things.

This is, of course, total speculation.

He owned that door Phone Post

The UFC is working with Nike... So, no reebok or adidas.

Is the UFC working with Nike? I realize Nikey has sponsored Jones, but do they also sponsor the UFC directly? I haven't spotted Nike logos on the canvas or cage yet...........not saying they don't, I am just asking, because if they in fact do not sponsor the UFC like Bud Lite and Harley Davidson do, then there is zero conflict between Nike and Reebok both sponsoring fighters.

This is what methinks, Nike paid for a non compete agreement

Othello - Do the big sports leagues allow competing manufacturers or is it all one brand? IE..... If the NFL is Nike do they allow Reebok products as well? Or do they say fuck it, a player can make his own judgements and we don't care one way or another?

I think shoes and maybe gloves are the only exceptions, all jerseys/uniforms are the same brand

With the NFL is is just one sponsor. I remember a couple years ago it was a huge deal that Nike overtook the leagues sponsorship and jersey manufacturing from Reebok. Here is a link to an article.

However, in terms of individual players being sponsored outside of the leagues, at least with the NBA and shoe contracts, it is a free for all. Players whould be able to take whatever sponsorships they can outside of an organization, however, that organization has every right to say who can and cannot be allowed to sponsor athletes within their events.

He said the UFC won't allow his sponsor. Where's the shit talking? Phone Post

If you haven't followed Rampage in the last 3 years all he does is talk shit about the UFC and how they don't pay him enough or take care of their fighters.

It seems pretty obvious to me.

You don't see fighters getting sponsored by Victory Motorcycles do you?

Or by Coors Light? The UFC isn't going to let the big guys advertising get conflicted with.

I assume since they sponsor several UFC fighters, that they are working with the UFC in some aspect.

Why else would the UFC care about Reebok?
