"My game plan was to get up in his face, smell his breath, be all up on him; I didn't do nothing! I'm very disappointed in myself, trust me," said Jackson. "I didn't do nothing compared to what I was training for."
"One thing about Jon Jones is that, he don't really throw combos," he said. "If he threw combos, he'd be real unstoppable. I was trying to capitalize on that, but for some reason, I didn't."
"He's good at keeping range, keeping you from him. When I was getting close and trying to throw some haymakers, he was good at evading me. The kid's good, I'd be surprised to see who could beat him," said Rampage. "I don't think nobody can beat him right now; he's going to be the next Anderson Silva in that weight class, I'm telling you. Because he's got great wrestling, his ground game is pretty good, and his stand up is pretty good."

- IMO Jones has a LONG WAY TO GO to be the "Next Anderson Silva" at 205.
2. Anderson has 9 title defenses, Jones has 1.
3. It took Anderson more or less half a decade to achieve that legendary record feat.
4. But didn't he say he's moving up to in two years and he talked about it to Dana post-UFC 135?
5. Your overall feelings on this UG?

He has the potential but 205 is much more stacked than 185. Should be interesting.
Machida to derail hype train imo.
ZJJitsu705 - Machida to derail hype train imo.
That's what I'm saying as well. Machida's style is the perfect, nightmare match up with guys like Jones. Plus, Machida TRAINS with Anderson.

It is nice to see Rampage being humble but only time will tell of jones legacy.
Jones is great there is no doubt. He needs to beat Rashad (speed) and Machida (style) before he can be mentioned alongside Anderson.
Who does Jones have left to face @205? Rashad, Machida, Henderson (maybe). If he takes care of those 2 or 3 no one can deny him his place next to Anderson.

Ha, you beat me to it.
I don't see anyone of these guys mentioned beating jones. He's in the early stages of his career which means he's still improving in different areas. Imagine how nasty he'll be if Jackson gets him throwing combinations
"The next Anderson Silva" doesn't mean "a guy with 50 title defenses". Of course it's too early to say that, it would take years.
"The next Anderson Silva" means a guy who is so good he makes his high level opponents look like they had never stepped in the ring before.
It's not too early to say that about Jones because he has been doing it already.
Should John Jones throw combo's?
Wouldn't that leave him open to a counterpuncher like Machida?
I thought Jones threw combo's on Shogun after he broke him down.
Rampage might be trolling.

On top of that, Silva doesn't have a 10 inch reach advantage over all his opponents.
CAN ALL YOU THE HATERS IMAGINE SILVA, THE MOST ACCURATE STRIKER IN MMA WITH THE FASTEST HEAD MOVEMENT/WEAVING, HAVING A 10 INCH REACH ADVANTAGE??!?!
Sorry, Rampage, he has a long way to go. He is definitly, #2 scariest fighter int he UFC right now, imo.
I agree with the reach advantage part.

Everybody is underrating or forgetting Machida. I think he can beat this kid with his elusiveness, his strange MMA style based on Shotokan Karate. He is able to be fit and keep it moving and get in and out in a blinck of an eye.
Jon Jones said he and Rampage were getting a little tired going in the fourth round. HelloOo Rampage didnt do anything??
Rampage really looked scared and not a title kandidate.
I think his name and fame earned him this fight, really it was Machida's turn to get HIS belt back.
I believe and if you look close you ll see that Rampage gave his back and didnt wanna go further. His lost was not cuz Jones had him, but Rampage gave him self like a little Thai hooker.
IDk. I never thought Jones would be this good. But I will say that as good as anderson is, I seriously doubt that we will ever seen Jones get so dominated like Anderson was against Sonnen. He is still great, but that changed the way I will forever look at him. The blueprint to beat anderson was created that night. Fortunately for anderson, there are not many people that have Sonnen skill set out there...
If jones ever gets taken down and held down like that against sonnen(if he moved up) or any other top level wrestler at 205 (Henderson) I would be shocked...
caliphornia - Lol@ "he is going to be the next Anderson silva of his weight class "Because he's got great wrestling, his ground game is pretty good, and his stand up is pretty good."
Would a guy with "pretty good" standup completely tool Shogun on the feet and make him tap to strikes?
Would a guy with "pretty good" ground game submit Rampage?
Neither Shogun nor Rampage were remotely competitive with Jones in ANY aspect of MMA (ok, Rampage defended a couple takedowns).
I can see it, and as long as we're being hypothetical and Jones DOES defend his title a dozen more times, I think he'll not only be the next Silva, but given how stacked 205 is he'll even pass Anderson. Again, hypothetically speaking.
VERY long way to go before any of that can happen though
People are making waaay too much noice for jones!Comparing him to anderson? thats bullshit!!he still have a long way to go. Anderson has beat almost every challenger decisive! And Jones still have to deal with Rashad! & Lets not forget machida in there & phil davis! & maybe even Hendo if he wins decisivly in japan.. I like Jones very much, but he still has much to prove =)

That's what I'm always saying, Machida's the perfect, nightmare match up against Jones. And Machida trains with the guy Jones emulating but can never duplicate, the best & greatest fighter ever born Anderson Silva.
