Funny how before the fight everyone hung on Rampage's every word like it was gospel truth but now that he gives Jones a compliment and tries to give him props everyone all of sudden questions him. Hmmm...
Charlie Waffles - IDk. I never thought Jones would be this good. But I will say that as good as anderson is, I seriously doubt that we will ever seen Jones get so dominated like Anderson was against Sonnen. He is still great, but that changed the way I will forever look at him. The blueprint to beat anderson was created that night. Fortunately for anderson, there are not many people that have Sonnen skill set out there...
If jones ever gets taken down and held down like that against sonnen(if he moved up) or any other top level wrestler at 205 (Henderson) I would be shocked...
A Sonnen roied out of his mind would destroy a jon jones with broken rips.
Jones is, like Orcus said, already toying with the top contenders....just like Anderson.
Jones i dont think will reach Anderson's striking greatness but he's obviously got the wrestling and also top game attack that Anderson doesnt.
In some ways, he is looking like Anderson with wrestling.
DakenTattoo - Jones is great there is no doubt. He needs to beat Rashad (speed) and Machida (style) before he can be mentioned alongside Anderson.
If he really does beat both of them I think he gets fast tracked to the GOAT list. Maybe not #1 but up there for sure.
stonepony - Lyoto is amazing, but, you're kidding yourself.
Lyoto lost to Rampage and Rua, but, he's going to beat Jon Jones? How does this make sense to anybody?
Rampage and Shogun aren't wrestlers.
~
orcus -and Shogun soccer kicked Rampage and made the ref stop the beating he was taking.........in the first round.caliphornia - Lol@ "he is going to be the next Anderson silva of his weight class "Because he's got great wrestling, his ground game is pretty good, and his stand up is pretty good."
Would a guy with "pretty good" standup completely tool Shogun on the feet and make him tap to strikes?
Would a guy with "pretty good" ground game submit Rampage?
Neither Shogun nor Rampage were remotely competitive with Jones in ANY aspect of MMA (ok, Rampage defended a couple takedowns).
Wand KO'd Rampage OUT COLD.
See I can do that too.
No doubt Jones is good, but the hyperbolic shit is gettting out of hand.
Imagine is Jones TKO'd Rampage in the first?
or if Jones knocked out Rampage out cold?
I swear people would start worshipping Jones.
Holy double negatives, Batman!
If Jones beats Hashad and Machida it will mean he's gone through and wiped out:
Shogun
Rampage
Rashad
Machida
Those are some serious high level wins... yeah he's not fighting travis lutter, thales leites or patrick cote inbetween those killers but it's quality over quantity.
Jones will however never catchup to Anderson because by the time he beats those guys Anderson will have beaten a few more worthy contenders so unless Anderson loses he'll always be ahead... same with GSP.
Strykr619 -lol@this shit, Machida isn't slow, plodding Rampage.GlGAHEART -stonepony - Lyoto is amazing, but, you're kidding yourself.

LOL How is Machida gonna land a hit again when he gets his legs kicked from under him ?
Just because Shogun leg kicked Machida, doesn't mean Jones will.
Completely different styles.

I have to agree with my fellow "11er" on this one. Jones isn't Anderson-unbeatable yet. And in response to the second guy's questions;
Would a guy with a pretty good ground game submit Rampage? PRIDE Rampage, maybe not. Today? Probably.
Would a guy with pretty good stand up tool Shogun and make him tap to strikes? No, unless 3 seconds into the fight Shogun get's caught out of nowhere with a flying knee that could and probably would knock anyone else the F out.
And whoever said Jones and Silva have similar styles and skillsets needs to actually turn on the TV and WATCH them fight...
Who the hell has Anderson fought that he is so great? I am not denying his skills but he has cleaned out a rather weak MW division big deal. A one dimensional great wrestler with sub par striking showed he is vulnerable by not being afraid of him and just moving forward etc.
If MW was as stacked as LHW Anderson would have been beaten a long time ago. That is why he refuses to move up to 205. Rampage would beat the shit out of Anderson. GSP would probably beat Anderson with his wrestling.
I just don't get all the hype over Anderson. He a great fighter but has not fought the kind of competition he needs to deserve the hype. I bet if you brought back Travis Lutter he would beat Anderson Silva along with Henderson and Chael.

You make some valid points and this is all my opinion anyway, but here's my rebuttal to that...
Is it surprising that a guy who has likely never wrestled in his life outside of MMA can be taken down by an Olympic alternate? I guarantee Anderson knew he would be taken down. Even with a gameplan of subbing from your back, pulling it off with a cracked rib against a top level wrestler (on some juice) after he has battered you for 4+ rounds sounds like an accomplishment of an all-time great to me. Okami is a great wrestler too, but he couldn't even get close to controlling Silva and looked like an amateur in both fights.
Silva also took an H-bomb right on the chin and wasn't fazed, and beat Lutter at his own game. He was too fast for Vitor, a guy known for overwhelming opponents with his striking and speed.
IDK why you think Rampage would beat him. I'm not an advocate of MMA math but Silva went up and embarrassed the guy who took the title from him, that counts for something. Add in that he destroyed world-class guys like Rich Franklin (twice) and Nate Marquardt.
Silva has not TRULY lost in 7 years, beats top level guys at their own strengths, out-grapples Olympic level wrestlers and out-strikes notable strikers. He does make a lot of injury excuses, and MW isn't the deepest division in the UFC, but I think the resume pretty much speaks for itself.
I think the GSP fight needs to happen for him to prove the GOAT status, but so far he hasn't done anything to disprove it.
^ I 100% agree and 9 > 1.
