This past Saturday, at UFC Fight Night 81 Dominick Cruz returned to championship form regaining his title and also entered the official pound-for-pound rankings:

POUND-FOR-POUND
1 Jon Jones
2 Demetrious Johnson
3 Conor McGregor
4 Robbie Lawler +1
5 Fabricio Werdum -2
6 Rafael dos Anjos
7 Luke Rockhold +2
8 Jose Aldo -1
9 Dominick Cruz *NR
10 Daniel Cormier
11 Chris Weidman
12 TJ Dillashaw -8
13 Holly Holm +1
14 Joanna Jedrzejczyk -1
15 Cain Velasquez -3
Seems legit. Cruz beats the no.4 guy, already has a win over the no.2 guy (who is only in the no.2 spot because no.1 came back from suspension and doesn't have a belt) and is ranked 9th.
Meanwhile, Lawler climbed above Werdum who has been on a tear against top 5 guys (and has managed to drop 2 spots to McGregor and Lawler) despite Lawler having 2 very controversial fights in his last 3. Along with the no.10 guy being the wrestling coach of the guy ranked 6th.
It's like Chael said all those years ago. "Theres no such rhing as pound for pound. The same people who sit down and debate pound for pound are the same ones who discuss the different possible integers as to why Batman would beat Superman. It's a ridiculous topic, it's impossible to know."
The list is bullshit and made up by the media, not a schooled esteemed panel of Hall of Famers.
The media will always choke feed us the latest happenings and this list is clear evidence of that.
In a perfect world a panel of worthy honorees would create the actual p4p list. If that were the case then Dominic Cruz would be only be mentioned if there was a special award for dancing and running.
