Rattle canning motorcycle fenders tme

I have a flat black gas tank I'm putting on my sportster and want to rattle can the fenders to match. I know prep and light coats are key but can any one help with the prep part.

What grit paper should I start with and then what should I work my way up to?

How should I sand after primer? What grit and how much?

How do I finish flat black? Phone Post 3.0

This is how she looks now. Its a budget build my, so far I've only got 1k invested. Some guy from outa town re-ended someone with no insurance and left it.

Well my little girl got sick at the baby sitter so my plans don't matter anymore. Probably going to wet sand with 800 and move to 1500 and then prime. Phone Post 3.0

I've for a full set of nightster tins. The plan now is to just get some riding in before it gets cold. Anything major is still up in the air and a winter project Phone Post 3.0

Your wife is going to love her bike when you're finished painting it!

I'd use 150 between coats, but not sure about the final rub since you're using flat.

Make shift paint booth with first coat of primer

Only thing left is wet sanding the exhaust covers and one last coat for the fenders. Going to wet sand the fenders with 3k grit and wet sand the exhaust covers with 2k grit. Hit the fenders with 2k grit after all the coats and its pretty smooth.

I'm happy with the way they look but going to have to see how they hold up. Here is what I did.

Sanded everything with 800 grit
Sprayed 2 costs of primer
Sanded primer with 1000 grit
Multiple coats of black
Sanded with 2000 grit
Final coat of black
Sanded with 3000 grit

I used dupli color from autozone. I wish I had a flat clear and maybe used an adhesive promoter Phone Post 3.0
