RDA: 'Cowboy' will choke and he knows it

Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone is on an eight-fight win streak, in 21 months, in a remarkably competitive division. His last loss however was to now UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos.

Cowboy fights RDA for the title at UFC on FOX 17 on Dec. 19, 2015 in Orlando, Florida. And in an interview with Ariel Helwani's The MMA Hour, Dos Anjos predicted that Cerrone will choke.

"I think he's still the same guy," said Dos Anjos, as transcribed by Adam Guillen Jr. for MMA Mania. He's like a soccer player, a good soccer player that's at the finals and he has a penalty kick and a chance to score, and he kicks it out of the goal. I think he's that kind of fighter, you know? When I have big tests, I always go over it. And it will be no different on December 19th. Of course, I think so (he chokes in big fights). And he knows that."

Cerrone has an offer from former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis to help in preparation, but Dos Anjos was not impressed.

"I think (Pettis) is just confused," said the champion. "He's talking about his goals for 145, he wants to face McGregor, he wants a rematch with me, he is just confused. He does not know what he wants. Also, I think that's the only way he gets his belt back is if he helps Cerrone, because he knows he can beat him and he cannot beat me. That's the only way he can hope to get his title back."

Sneaky.

Still, Rafael is the only man who can say he holds wins over both Pettis and Cerrone as he looks to go two-for-two against the streaking "Cowboy." And he's more than confident he can do it, as he's certain Donald will find a way to squander away a big opportunity.

Again.

Spot on with both the Cowboy comments and the Pettis ones Phone Post 3.0

RDA probably just won. Phone Post 3.0

Damn, I didn't know RDA was this cerebral. Phone Post 3.0

Yikes RDA spitting venom Phone Post 3.0

Can't disagree with the guy tbh.

How that guy has never pissed hot is beyond me. I can't say he is wrong though. Cowboy is a badass mofo, but every once in a while, some other dude that looks just like him shows up to fight in his place. I hope that guy stays away this time.

Rooting for cowboy for sure, although I doubt he will have an easy time. RDA just doesn't do it for me, despite all his skill. I'm ready for a beer chugging wake boarding champion. Phone Post 3.0

Why?

Tests are easy to pass and he has been roughly the same size his entire career.

Why is it so hard to believe that a professional athlete would be lean and somewhat muscular?

He is 5'9, there are guys that height at ww and probably some at MW.

I like RDA, he's a family man but I hope Cowboy can pull it off. I believe RDA may be onto something here though, hope he's wrong.

I guess I just disagree with your statement what he has been roughly the same size his entire career. IMHO he is significantly more muscular and welll defined, and I feel like his jawline and head have altered significantly in a way that can't be explained by aging 5 years. For me a simple Google image search provides enough evidence to at the very least be suspicious. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think I'm the only one who feels that way. If I remember correctly there was thread not too long ago about his perceived transformation. Just my opinion.

Cormier is 5'9.

Dos Anjos' body/head has definitely changed DRASTICALLY over the years. Anyone who chooses to ignore that and attribute it to "natural growth, and hard work" needs to explain to me exactly wtf you do while lifting that MAKES YOUR FUCKIN HEAD GROW?!?!??!

Anyway, I honestly believe Cerrone is an evolved fighter with a good chance this time. And if he isn't too busted up from having four fights in the past 11 months I believe we get to see Cowboy get the gold and celebrate by banging two Budweiser's together and chuggin 'em Stone Cold style!

We shall see. RDA is looking a lot different these days. I may have to bet that someone's magical chin, that can take a Pettis roundhouse kick flush and not have a bit of damage, may become human again. Cowboy may kick his ass. If you are one of the people , like myself, who think that he is a steroid using cheater, you will find out soon enough. Phone Post 3.0

I can't say anyone is forsure using... But fucking come on. That guy is forsure using. Phone Post 3.0

Cowboys gonna enter 3rd person mode and beat the fuckin piss outa him yeeehaaaaaw Phone Post 3.0

I like Dos Anjos, good dude....But I also know he's on some shit. Therefore my judgement of his character has come into question. Rooting for Cowboy on this one!
