Yea, people don't really understand. That sloth bear is half the size of that tiger, and it wins. Why? Bears basically don't get tired, and they can just use the homer simpson strategy in almost any fight. Let the other critter pummel it until its exhausted.
That bear probably weighs about 150 pounds, and that Tiger 300 pounds minimum.
Then watch the video I linked earlier where there are like 700+ pound brown bears getting rowdy, and watch how the marginally larger bear rag dolls the marginally smaller bear. Bears are freakishly quick, freakishly explosive, freakishly durable, and for an oompa loompa running mother fucker, freakishly fast. Gorillas might have a p4p strength advantage, but a gorilla has a relative strength disadvantage and either of the two bears in that video I linked, would run through a gorilla like it was a wet tissue.

Gorillas are bluff fighters who generally don’t engage, & tend to follow high school bully rules when they do. Bears kill for fun.
I’m not willing to speculate about muzzling & declawing, other than to say animals aren’t so stupid they don’t know when they’ve been handicapped.
A huge male gorilla would still only be half the weight of an average grizzly, and 1/3 the weight of an average polar bear.

Just watch the video in this very thread of the two bears fighting each other. Totally reminds me of a street fight when one bear is on top of the other one, neither bear is doing shit b/c they both are breathing hard as fuck. ^Yeah, I didn’t want to shit on that too much, but for the most part the only large mammals that don’t gas within the first minute of a fight are giraffes & pack fighters. It’s actually kinda hard to find a bear fight video that doesn’t involve lots of recovery stalling & the digestive system unloading from both ends.

Well yeah, the bear weighs twice as much as the silverback gorilla…put a brown bear that’s the same weight as the silverback gorilla and I bet the gorilla does well

It's a good fight. The Gorilla would seem to have the power and speed advantage imo even if it is not technically the most powerful or the fastest. The advantage would come because of their body structure. They would have the power advantage because they would be able to get mor leverage into their strikes because they can throw their whole body into each strike but a standiong bear is only able to throw poor form strikes tat generate strength only from the arms. And while the bear may be faster in a straight line the gorilla is more agile and able to cut angles and stand and sprawl faster.
The advantage a bear would have though is essentially having 5 knives on the end of each paw. Without this weapon a Gorilla would put the Bear on it's back and hammer fist into submission but the claw weapon would have great potential in creating a big difference.
