Could it also have something to do with his build? They kept mentioning Cory Hill, and they're both tall guys with long, lean arms and legs. Probably dumb but could that be part of it?

Sure it could. Silva seems relatively thin or maybe average in terms of bone thickness, yet can generate enormous power. Plus he probably has micro-fractures in his shins from years of hard impacts. It's a recipe for what we just saw, unfortunately.
