Received two very different car estimates

Long story short I hit something in the road and messed my car up.

I took the car into Honda to get a diagnosis of the damage. I received an estimate for 5800 dollars. From here I call my insurance and explain what happened. Insurance tells me to drop my car back off at Honda to get it looked at by someone who works for the Insurance company.

Honda calls and says they are going to re-assess the damage. The claim comes back and it's only 480 bucks. The service advisor is apologizing for the mix up and offers to discount my rental and reimburse my initial fee for the diagnosis.

It seems to me Honda wanted me to pay a ton of money. When the insurance got involved Honda knew that someone would come out to audit the damage. The situation is fucked up. What would you do? Phone Post 3.0

Burn them to the ground. Fucking scam artist mechanics. Phone Post 3.0

After they fix your car, and fix it right, go on yelp and google and post your story in a review.

The dealership will likely contact you, in order to work something out in exchange for taking down the negative review.

When they contact you, tell the you want $1000 to take down the ad..

$480 of it is for the cost of the repairs, and $520 is a scam tax.

I would like for them to fix the car, pay for my rental, refund my initial assessment by it was wrong, and detail my car as if they were selling it new. Phone Post 3.0

Don't get too greedy, or they'll balk.

The CEO for the company I work for Royally fucked over a car dealership after they faked a carfax and sold him an Audi that had been wrecked and repaired.

He got all of his money back, plus about $8,000, but he had more leverage than you currently do.

Important Variable: Did you get the initial estimate in writing?

Find out who owns the dealership, and have sex with his/her father.

I might submit the story somewhere...news outlet or online or something, but I certainly would never have any work done there...f that. Phone Post

I just read the reviews from the dealership and there are a couple of reviews from people saying they were charged for repairs that weren't completed or weren't needed. Phone Post 3.0

What is a reasonable course of action from me and from them? Phone Post 3.0

Anybody work in a car dealership. Phone Post 3.0

Contact corporate Honda ASAP. Tell them what happened and that you have not contacted a lawyer, bbb, etc yet and them first. They want to know info like this. They will likely take care of you. Regardless, these people need to be fired. I could not allow this to pass knowing they are going to keep scamming people. Do the right thing here, fren. Phone Post 3.0

Quick question. Was the $480 estimate for what you would owe too them to fix it after your insurance has paid their share for you having insurance? So you didn't get insurance involved and they quoted you at $5800, then your insurance would be involved and you would only owe the $480. Or is it an entirely different estimate? Phone Post 3.0

Car was fucked up, I brought it in and they told me 5800. That's not what I was expecting so I called insurance and said I hit something in the road. Insurance sent an employee out to look at the car. The dealership saw insurance was coming out and reassessed the car. The new bill is 480. Phone Post 3.0

So you can pay the $480 and not run it through your insurance, right?

My guess is they thought it would need a sub frame but recanted for whatever reason. It's not always the techs fault. In a situation like this ( I assume op brought it in for suspension issues) we would throw it on the alignment machine and visually inspect for damage. It doesn't tell you what to replace to get it back in alignment. A lot of times the writers or customers would want the worst case scenario. Every dealer I worked at were honest, but the prices were ridiculous. Phone Post 3.0

Can you post the details of both estimates? Such as the damage they found and what all was included in the bills? Labor and materials etc.. Phone Post 3.0
