recommend lifting music

so far i have a lot of slipknot, nin, korn, static x, and so forth but am running out of ideas. can you guys recommend something heavy along the lines of hate music. i find i lift best when i'm pissed off and angry. thanks alex

I listen to all sorts of stuff when I lift, but you might dig some stuff like:

Down

Superjoint Ritual

Black Label Society

Dimmu Borgir

Children of Bodom

Testament

Slayer

Iced Earth

Mercyful Fate

Black Sabbath

Pantera

Soulfly

Saliva

Beautiful Creatures

Megadeth

Savatage

My Dying Bride

Paradise Lost

Sepultura

Sentenced

etc...

any specific songs??

Damn, wish I had my CDs here with me, and I could give you a bunch of specific songs. From memory, I can suggest:

Testament: Do Not Resuscitate

Slayer: just get the double live CD "Decade of Aggression" Every song is a good one

Sentenced: their cover of Iron Maiden's "The Trooper," as well as "The Suicider," "No More Beating as One," "Bleed" and their cover of W.A.S.P.s "I Wanna Be Somebody."

Iced Earth: Burning Times

Mercyful Fate: Holy Water

Black Sabbath: Iron Man, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath

Pantera: Fucking Hostile

Saliva: Always (not that heavy, but this one gets me pretty jacked up for whatever reason)

Beautiful Creatures: I Got It All

Sepultura: Chaos A.D.

I'm drawing a blank on a lot of other good stuff, too much on my mind at the moment I guess. :-)

I agree completely with sprhodes. My top four favorite bands of all time are on that list.

Sepultura-Roots Bloody Roots(the entire CD kicks ass)

Superjoint Ritual-Pick any CD

Soulfly-not as big a fan of Soulfly 3, but any others are good

Pantera-ah shit, don't get me started

Amorphis - Drifting Memories, or anything else off of the Am Universum album.

Annihilator - Hunter Killer

Anthrax - Caught In A Mosh, I Am The Law, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (Black Sabbath cover)

Artch - Loaded

Borknagar - Gods of My World

Bruce Dickinson - Killing Floor

Children of Bodom - Children of Decadence, Bodom After Midnight, Everytime I Die

Cradle of Filth - For Those Who Died, Her Ghost In The Fog, Sodomy & Lust

Dark Tranquility - Punish My Heaven

Deicide - Serpent of the Light

Darkside - The Gloaming

Exodus - Bonded By Blood, And Then There Were None

Hammerfall - Heeding The Call, Stronger Than All

Helloween - I Want Out

Iced Earth - Angel's Holocaust, My Own Savior, Pure Evil, Vengeance Is Mine

In Flames - Embody The Invisible, Pinball Map, Only For the Weak

Lacuna Coil - Angel's Punishment

Life Of Agony - Depression, Let's Pretend, The Stain Remains

Lizzy Borden - Lovin' You Is Murder, American Metal, Hell Is For Heroes, There Will Be Blood Tonight

Mercyful Fate - Come to the Sabbath, Curse of the Pharaohs, Into The Coven, Nuns Have No Fun

My Dying Bride - God Is Alone

Nevermore - Beleive In Nothing

Nile - Ramses Bringer of War

Pantera - Cemetary Gates, Fuck The World

Paradise Lost - Dead Emotion, Illumination

All joking aside, I have two Survivor songs (Burning Heart and Eye of the Tiger) on one of my training CDs. It might be cliche as hell, but they're seriously cool songs and I still get really pumped up listening to either or both.

I only listen to that when doing cardio though, and wouldn't really want it for lifting. :-)

hurt by jonny cash

rammstein - I like them all

you know you're right - nirvana

calm like a bomb - rage against the machine

Shostakovich 11 Symphony, 2nd and 4th movement.

lamb of god - ashes of the wake

hatebreed

tonight was old school 80's thrash  - nuclear assault  "survive"

Old school thrash rules! Exodus, Slayer, Nuclear Assault, Overkill, Testament... that's some seriously good shit.

i'm in an old school thrash phase right now. man that stuff was great.

listening to DRI right now!

motorhead - no sleep 'til hammersmith

Turbonegro - get it on
I use that towards the middle of a workout when I know i'll be loosing interest and need to get pumped back up; bracketed on either end by minor threat.

Rise Against - Blood to Bleed

Kelly Clarkson, but only the second album, the hard stuff.
