lol @ Nick Serra'd...
Why the fuck do you idiots want SOO BADLY for certain fighters to suck, choke, fail or get no credit? No one ever says reem probably wont do so well, or he might have a tough time. Its always "h cant even hang with the UFC bottom feeders!!!' " he's going to be exposed big time!!", he's going to get dominated!" Do you fucking dumb assholes know that he is a monster of a man, a lifetime martial artist? A professional MMA fighter and champion on top? He won the fucking K-1 GP. What the fuck is a matter with you people?

This is exactly why mainstream MMA is going to ruin shit. The UFC can have the WORST HW division ever and just because a guy like reem or anyone else with outstanding credentials comes from another org somehow he cant hang in the UFC. Not because of the rules, the pressure, just simpily because hey!!! its the UFC! ITS WAY BETTER!! When you say ridiculous statements like that are you even considered a fan anymore? Or is it like football now where you have to KILL the other team for no other reason.
Then to act like you know more then everyone else and surround yourself with other idiots who agree with you. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!!! All of you fucking douche nozzles talking shit about Reem say it to his face if you ever get the chance. Tell a guy who won a world class striking competition his striking sucks, even though you cant even strike a match. Tell all 290lbs of pure muscle that your 170lb self could easily take his ass down with 2 months of high school wrestling.
Most of all, STFU and quit acting like an MMA prophet. A true fan knows that ANYTHING can happen and overeem has skill so don't treat him like hes some untrained hill billy off the street. Have some fucking respect. You freak out about a fake BJJ for disrespecting the sport and people who work so hard for it. Then you go bash a guy who has earned the hype, done a lot for the sport and put in a lifetime of hard work to get to where he is, like he does not deserve to be there Figure it out already.
Neil Funk -nhbguy -Neil Funk - he got outstruck by Werdum in his last fight
if Werdum doesn't flop and buttscoot, he wins that fight standing
C'mon now, seriously? You think if he doesn't flop every time Alistair throws a punch at him he wins that fight standing? It's pretty easy to "outstrike" someone if you flurry and then fall down as soon as they strike back. You don't think it might have gone a tad differently if Werdum didn't fall on his butt as soon as anything started coming back at him? Seriously?
Try sparring with someone who falls down to their back every time you throw a strike and get back to us.
Sheesh.
just sayin. I don't necessarily think that Werdum would have knocked him out, but he was tagging Reem up pretty nice, and had he not Nick Serra'd the majority of the fight, he could have won on his feet, decision or otherwise. Overeem looked like shit in that fight and gave no indication that he gets to the UFC and starts KOing people like the OP insinuates.
Neil, again the problem with the assumption that Werdum wins the fight standing if he didn't flop all the time is that if he doesn't flop that means he would have been standing there when Alistair fired back. Don't you think that would have made a bit of a difference? It wasn't like he was slipping or parring punches. He just fell down to avoid them. If he doesn't fall down, he probably gets hit a good deal more, right?
You said that he tagged up Reem pretty good, but as I said before, it's pretty easy to outland someone if you just flurry with a couple of punches and then fall down if they try to punch back. That coupled with the fact that Alistair seemingly had no respect for Werdum's striking led to Werdum landing more strikes.
After all, a very young Alistair outstruck a prime Chuck Liddel for almost of the first round of their fight in 2003.
The fight lasted a little over 4 min. Chuck had a takedown, was on top of him, and threw knees from the north south position. How does that equal winning most of a 10 min first round?
I hope Op is under 25 years old. The term Hella Bangers should not be used by a mature adult.

Alistair had Chuck in a bit of trouble standing in that fight when he was very green. I didn't mean that they fought for a full 10 minutes, merely that Alistair was controlling the standup in their fight until he was caught.
pegson123 - reem is just like his brother but 10 times betters. meaning once you hit back and show him your not gonna fold. he usually is done. he was done against werdum. but got let off the hook by someone who didnt believe in his own hands.
This is exactly why I place more merit on his K-1 performances than many others seem to. Watch his fight with Tyrone Spong from December. Alistair was hurt in the first round but battled back to win the 2nd round and dominate the 3rd.
This may not have been an mma fight but it did show how he would react to adversity as a heavyweight. Not only did he battle back to win the fight with Spong, he also won two more fights that night. This is not the actions of a guy who "folds like a lawn chair against top guys." He fought all of the top guys in K-1(with the exception of Semmy Schilt), and didn't fold against any of them.
Perhaps you've heard the expression, Being tired makes cowards of men. Draining himself to make 205, on top of being very young accounts for some of those earlier performances.
Many like to astutely point out that K-1 is not mma. No, but like MMA, K-1 is a fight, and in K-1 Alistair has shown his character as a fighter. The difference between Alistair now and Alistair 5 to 8 years ago is immense, and not just the physical differences. His skills, his conditioning, his level of experience, his ability to relax in the ring, and perhaps most important his confidence have all improved by leaps and bounds. All those clinging to the image of a 205 lb Reem are going to be very surprised by the next few years.
Sofa King Cool - Overeem will do about as good as CroCop did in the UFC. He will get smashed by the wrestlers in the UFC.
Also, please have him fight Pat Barry, Mitrione, or Browne in his first fight. Maybe Nog.
Crocop didnt get smashed by any wrestlers. Fyi
And why doesn't everyone stop acting like they actually know whats going to happen and just wait and see, not a single person on this forum knows what going to happen like you think you do. The people that aren't hating are clear on that but the haters just love to talk like they've already seen it. Maybe he'll get worked, maybe he'll be champ, just wait and see and quit all the bitching.

Good Post, if he fails in the UFC then he does but that takes nothing away from what he's already accomplished and of course he has a good chance, he's actually not that bad on the ground also.
