Whatever happened to the infamous Face Palm Downward Elbow that became effective in ground n pound and opening or worsening cuts. Seems they outlawed it at some point, cant rememembr for sure when.
Seems Jeremy Horn may have been the developer of this move. Josh Barnett and some other fighters perfected it. Surely must have been in Tito's repertiore.
Anybody recall how it became an illegal strike?
It was indeed Horn, I believe. A very underutilized strike, as it's about impossible to miss.
ttt
it's not illegal as long as the elbow has an arc to it.
It's called a "push-off elbow." Not illegal.
first time I saw push-off elbows was Hughes vs Newton 2
thought it was the most badass gnp move ever
pretty sure they are still legal
Cain utilizes them too.
