Remember when it was absurd that an MMA'er..

Wouldn't last 2 minutes with a Boxer in their world? Those days are gone.

Ok, so Conor lost, but to see MMA evolve to a point where one of it's top fighters can hold his own is a great achievement for this sport.

Imagine Royce vs James Toney or RJJ in '93 under Boxing rules? He wouldn't have lasted two rounds.

Fair play to Conor, he's the man.

Floyd probably threw his back out, having to carry Conor for the whole fight.

It was obvious the smart gameplan was let Conor punch himself in this fight.

If we saw him against a boxer that wasn’t retired and that can punch? He wouldn’t last a round.

Nothing has changed.

Floyd is still the best boxer on earth, top 3 at worst.

Yeah but how many guys in MMA are like Conor? When it comes to MMA boxing Conor is at the very top.

Mayweather can’t punch? I mean I get taking it to the delusional Conor fans but don’t be delusional yourself. Conor landed clean shots early on. Zab did the same to Mayweather only much better. Difference is that people expected for Zab to be able to do that and not McGregor.

You’re kidding yourself if you don’t think Conor’s showing was a big deal.

Yes, when he actually fights like Floyd Mayweather.  The style he used against Conor would be disasterous against Canelo or GGG, for example.

Carry this.

If ggg or canelo fought that Conner tonight he would have been slept in the first. Floyd had never been a power puncher. Did you even see the fight it looked like a pro trying to walk a child to his first day of school

It required him to fight differently because he wasn't fighting a traditional boxer.

Nothing Connor did was untraditional in boxing. Nothing.

What made Floyd fight differently is that he wanted to KO Connor, and that meant walking him down rather than waiting and outpointing him.

McGregor did well. Kevin Lee called the fight well on the MMA hour the other week.

Roy Jones Jr and James Tony had real KO power, Mayweather isn't known as a power puncher. I would like to see how McGregor would hold up against Canelo or GGG, that would be a closer analogy to your OP.
