Resume question

As some know, I had to be let go from my job due to being off too long (surgery, chemo, cancer coming back unexpectedly and aggressively). I wasn't fired but I didn't quit.

So my question is how would I word that on my resume as far as stating why I don't work at the hospital anymore? I don't want to use any of the red flag words like "fired" or "let go" but if I say I resigned then that really wouldn't look good without an explanation which on a resume is not good practice from what I understand ( trying to give an explanation). So I don't know what to do.

Thanks for any help.

How long have you been out of work?

You don't need to list why you left the hospital on your resume. Just list dates of employment.

You should be prepared to describe your separation from your last employer in as positive a manner as possible. But purple don't put why they left each of their employers on the resume document.

Do you know if the hospital listed you as "do not rehire" in their employee files?

You don’t. You just put the end date.

Sorry, "people" not "purple"

This.  Recently i took a personal leave of absence from my career and Im anxious to be t back to work.  Or a brief medical leave may nip additional questions in the bud.  You may even be able to work it into a cover.

Old, I started FMLA June 2017 but the cancer came back unexpectedly and I ended up  being off work about 11 months before I found out that I was let go. It was on good terms and HR even told me to contact them as soon as I have my next surgery and get the medical restrictions lifted. I'm taking my chemo treatments in the same hospital I worked at and one of the workers even brought me a cinnamon roll that morning, I make sure to not burn any bridges while I worked there.

EFM, how so? On the suggestion of working it into a cover I mean.

Thanks for the replies.

You went on FMLA on June 2017, but what is your effective termination date? That is what you list on your resume. You were technically employed while on FMLA and don't need to list that status on your resume.

That should shorten the employment gap in your resume. Then you can include a brief explanation in your cover letter stating you took some time off for personal medical reasons, but are now ready and eager to return to work.

Yeah, this.  At the end, after youre done explaining in 140 words or less why youre a good fit, just close with recently i took some time off to deal with a personal medical issue and am extremely eager to return to work.

I dont know, you may just want to leave it out and see how many calls you get first.  If nothing then add it in?

Monster doesnt mention putting it in the cover letter

Just tell them you went to Thailand for sexual reassignment surgery and took time off as recommended by the dr. They will not ask a single additional question and you will get the job.

LOL

Donny, that’s actually a part of my 12 week plan!

Contract of employment terminated due to medical capability.

Correct

Many online applications ask “reason for leaving”. Do you put NA on there?
