reverse 1/2 vs reverse dlr

are these the same positions. ive heard pablo pop talk about reverse 1/2 and i know (or at least i believe) mendes berimbolo game is based on reverse dlr?

are they not the same? Phone Post

Yes, top side reverse half you are looking at their legs and in RDLR you are looking at their torso/head

The berimbolo comes off the de la riva guard, not reverse de la riva aka spiral guard

The berimbolo can come from the reverse half guard though.

No, they are not the same.

Reverse De La Riva, aka. spiral guard, half spider guard or Terra guard, is essentially an open half guard vs. a standing opponent. It's 'reverse' because you are hooking inside the opponent's knee, with your inside foot, as opposed to outside the opponent's knee with your outside foot, as you would in regular DLR.

Reverse half guard, on the other hand, is when your opponent back-steps in your DLR or half guard, or sits over to the other side from your deep half guard. If you invert from reverse half guard, you have the berimbolo.
