My left index finger is getting massive typing all these Ts.

ttt (to spare you further RSI)

If you (anyone) were a beginner and wanted to get an instructional series for the half guard would you start with Leverton's or Gordo's half-guard material?

Yes - it'd be my first recomendation.

I'd start with Leverton's. It will give you a base you can build on in a number of different directions. Here is a detailed review of it:

lol 3T, The man That needs a Tan.

Sorry been a real slow day.

Nathan "Tan-Man" Leverton, LOL

Levo's gives you a good base both on top and bottom, however it is primarily no-gi, so if you work a lot with the gi, you will have to tranfer the stuff over.

Bolo's half-guard is also excellent. It is all bottom, but covers a wider range, and is with gi. I have not seen Gordo's.
