definitely don't see how one judge gave the fight to guida, but more than that, i started to think about who diego could fight next, in his path to a title fight.
i personally would love to see him draw either spencer fisher or hermes franca. i think both guys would push him, and if he beats them, he is prolly one fight away from a title fight...
personally, i would like to see frank edgar, terry etim and diego all built up as potential contenders given tough challenges in the course of next 6-12 months to prepare for title shots.
the lightweight division is getting stacked again.
Spencer for #1 contender would be righteous. I'll take the king in that one.
Terry Etim will be out of contention once he starts facing some tough wrestlers
Franca is fighting Tyson Griffin.
Spencer is a meaningless opponent at this point.
You are right about Diego and Edgar both being built as contenders, and both will IMO. Diego is cued up for the next title shot, and Edgar will get a favorable fight to cue him up after that. Both are two of the bigger draws they have in the LW division, Diego because he won TUF 1 and has fought in a handful of main events (mostly all good fights) and Edgar is geographically significant. They'll continue to build Etim but he's a long ways away, his wrestling is still a liability.
Simple: Grey Maynard
i thought franca had a fight coming up... would love to see the winner of franca/ griffin against diego then. that would be a true test for him, before the winner of bj/ kenflo.
frank is more deserving right now for a shot, but wouldn't mind seeing him fight 1-2 more times before fighting for a belt. beating sherk was pretty huge in my eyes.
etim vs. fisher would be entertaining... and would help establish where those 2 go from here.
After listening to Goldie and Rogan the other night I thought Deigo would just be given the title without even having to fight the winner of BJ/Florian.
Terry Etim is only 22, he should be given some time to grow, no need to feed him to the sharks yet.
the only fight that makes sense is sanchez maynard.. how could anyone really see it any differently
it was funny rewatching it, and hearing goldie talk about how we're gonna see a sanchez vs. florian rematch... then a few minutes later goes, "if they both win..."
obviously he has his favorites, but counting out clay guida is a lot different than counting out bj penn...
maybe Diegos beat down of Guida is still fresh in my mind, but I dont see anyone at lw outside of BJ and KenFlo beating him and those would be good fights. Diego's always impressed me and he's a beast at lw.
BJ or Kflo would beat Diego.
303
Just a thought but how about Koschek versus Diego at 155?
sanchez vs maynard sounds right
ya because kenny looked stellar in their first fight.. O thats right the weight... he runs through kenny florian..
I'd actually be real nervous for him if he had to fight Edgar or Maynard.
they're just bad matchups for him
If he DID beat either of them, it would be HUGE!
and would clearly place him in #1 contender spot imo
JDV - tsmokiee - Just a thought but how about Koschek versus Diego at 155?
Has Koscheck even expressed interest in fighting at LW? He's fighting Frank Trigg next at UFC 103, anyway.
For some reason I thought I read somewhere that he was thinking about dropping down. Guess I was wrong.
Frank Edgar would stop the Diego hype dead in its tracks
"For some reason I thought I read somewhere that he was thinking about dropping down. Guess I was wrong."
No, you were right -- Koscheck did say he'd go wherever the fights were, including LW, and said he would have no trouble at all making 155.
