Rhadi Ferguson GFC 8 fight video (10-9-10)

Shot this video of Rhadi Ferguson's second pro MMA fight Saturday night in Nashville at Gameness Fighting Championship 8. Opponent was Jeremy Boczulak. Source and story: http://prommanow.com/index.php/2010/10/10/rhadi-ferguson-gfc-8-fight-video/

He is too sluggish. His striking reminds me of Rolles' punching. He is going to get wrecked if he goes to the UFC.

wow he likes to hold his hands next to his ankles while slipping punches

I thought he looked good for his second fight. Good leg kicks. Decent movement(yet, he needs to watch going straight back). Very calm.

Remember he has spent his whole life grappling. Striking is new to him, Olympic athlete or not.

I was impressed.

I think that's the problem - looks too late in the game to be starting to learn how to strike. He's walking backwards in a straight line with his hands down.

He was FAR from sluggish. Watching the fight live I can tell you, he looked incredibly light on his feet. Of course striking is the greenest part of his game but he still has more movement and head movement than many heavyweights I've seen and he hits very hard. Also, notice the little trip he throws on dude early in the fight,, that is quick instinct.

it was a nice fight, dude came at him.

Video doesn't even get good until about 2:12 in.

I've seen only 2 of Rhadi's fights and they both were won by TKO.  That's pretty good for a Judo Olympian.  I think he learned everything from Kimbo.

GC111 - He is too sluggish. His striking reminds me of Rolles' punching. He is going to get wrecked if he goes to the UFC.

Quit smoking crack. He slipped the guys punches the entire fight then knocked him out.

He looked pretty quick.

The fact is this guy brings a lot to the table. His strength and conditioning teachings are legendary and his own strength and conditioning is off the charts. Anyone looking to gain an edge in explosiveness and their conditioning would do well to seek out his teachings. He's a black belt in judo and BJJ and has working relationships with some of the best camps and fighters in the game. Is he ready for Lesnar and the top of the UFC, probably not, but I'm sure he could hold his own against the Madsens and Beltrans. Just my opinion.

 ttt for rhadi

He looked really good for his second fight. Reading the comments before, I had no idea he'd win the fight with his striking. Everyone made it sound like his striking was so bad he was lucky to win with is grappling.

 Sheesh! Tough crowd.

If I go in and do takedowns and "lay and pray" you guys will call me boring.

I go in to these fights and DELIBERATELY work on the weak parts of my game, REFUSE to do takedowns and I get called sluggish and slow.

I'm a BEGINNER!!

And to the poster that said I'd get killed in the UFC. I AGREE 100%/  To date, RIGHT NOW,  I have NO BUSINESS in the UFC.   There's no hope for me in there. After working out with Rashad, I DO KNOW that. I'm not here to waste anyones time or fool myself.  Now hopefully that'll change in about 6 months. I'm looking forward to working out with Mo Lawal when he heals up and Rashad again as well as some of my teammates at ATT. To be honest with you, I COULD NOT work out with some of the guys at ATT because my level was just to low. I was utilized compartmentally in terms of the grappling and cage work but I wasn't very useful at first. After working on my hands I think I'm ready to do more sparring with the pros.

I've REALLY taken a great amount of time to learn the striking game. Remember. I began striking in Jan. 2010. That was my first lesson with Howard Davis.

It may be too late for me, maybe not, but the bottom line is this. No matter what the age, we all have to find a way to win and find a way to get better. This is what I'm doing.

Just enjoying the ride.  If anything, I'll be a much better coach after all of this. MOST definitely.

Humbly,

Dr. Ferguson

It's not too late!

With Rhadi's strong grappling he has to only strike well enough to get the clinch and take it to the mat.
With his natural power, his hands will always be a threat...enough to get the takedown.

It takes a lot of courage and humility to do what he does...and has done.

None of the posters would last 5 minutes with him.

War Fergi! Phone Post

Good fight, you got some power in those kicks

Good fight! Great victory!

Also, your incredible work ethic and humble attitude are inspirational. I hope others will want to be so honorable.

Oh, and please ignore the haters. The trouble they cause here is only an attempt to alleviate the imbalances in their own life. Your posts and stories are much appreciated.

Reminds me of a black Pedro Rizzo.

Good fight, I look forward to seeing you progress.

His striking is coming along, but I think he needs to work on his dance moves more.

 Coach Rhadi: AMAZING!!!!

Judo Olympian, BJJ Blackbelt, 2-0 PRO MMA with both finishes by strikes?!  Just sweet.

Please teach us some of them sweet dance moves too :)
