Great interview!
I started bjj in 2000 at Renzo’s and Shawn has been a friend of mine for 20 years now!
When I started, it was incredible- both he and Danaher were purple belts and taught the beginners />
They started off fairly small, but soon enough, people saw what great teachers they were, and it was packed with all color belts taking it.
Danaher gets a ton of publicity these days (rightfully so), however, I would bet that the majority of people would be even happier taking Shawn’s />
Not only is he a killer on the mat, he is super knowledgable and friendly. Everytime I visited his in LA, the vibes was great and the were full of super technical and very nice people.
^ this is so weird, I edited my post twice, and it took out the word c*lasses each time- that’s why it reads so strangely.
Shawn is great and an EXCELLENT teacher.
When he first came to L.A.,he spent a lot of time at my teacher’s place. He was impressive and always willing to show whatever you wanted --and very well.
Shawn Williams is one of the nicest, most humble, most technical teachers I’ve ever met or trained with.
If I lived closer I would 100% be training with him.
