Rikidozan vs. KIMURA (revisited)

what a crazy event in fight history

i remember first learning about this during the NHB days and the stories some people in the know were posting

let's hear it

  • Rikidozan's stabbing murder linked as retaliation for this?
  • Why didn't Kimura fight back or defend himself? (were there reasons for this? or was he just stunned?)

etc

ttt for pre TUF era posters

Thanks for posting Phone Post 3.0

iirc it was worked from both sides with yakuza-backed betting involved. Kimura took liberty to potato him, and riki broke character & turned it a shoot - and a brutal beatdown at that. Lots of betting $ lost, so the mob took him out for it, allegedly. anyone have any more info?:

I wonder if riki was set to win, but just not in that fashion - resulting in the loss at the bookies perhaps? Maybe why kimura ate it, hoping riki was just potatoing him back before the finish perhaps? dunno
