Tonight the County of Los Angeles will effectively kill restaurants minus the big chains. After making them all make and pay for major adjustments to move dining outside. At last night Board of Supervisors meeting they admitted there was no science behind the order but moved ahead anyway and banned outdoor dining.
Anyone here in the restaurant business? This is fucking devastating to owners, servers and even patrons.

There are a lot of politicians that need to be cuffed up and thrown in jail. There is no scientific reason for doing this but they did. I guess I didn’t know that one elected official could do this much damage to a city.

I was certain that either (1) they would reverse it or (2) double down and impose a safer-at-home order the day before Thanksgiving. We all know that the first one did not happen, much to my surprise. I think the second one will happen now.
Really shocked they made this decision. Many restaurants were probably going to tank regardless, they were just trying to recoup what they could but this will be the dagger through the heart.
I know that many here will refuse to accept this, but the reality is that most people just don’t feel comfortable eating indoors during a pandemic. No matter what the law says.
A study was done in October (before things started to get really bad) and 50% of people refuse to do it.
