yaa jake devree kicked ass give him a title shot

Hi selfmade08 - Jake looked good tonight and had a lot of fans at the show, The RITC Welterweight Title is vacant ( Alex Coronado suffered serious injuries in an auto accident ).

I've already scheduled Phillip Preece ( 170 ) vs Eric Regan ( 170 ) on May 16th in Tucson for the vacant title. Both are very experienced fighters with 46 fights between them.

Jake can challenge the winner of that bout for our show on July 18th at Gila River Casino ( vs Regan ) or Sept back at Desert Diamond ( vs Preece ).

JPet,

How did it go with the new rules? (No slapping standing)

Hi Mike

EXCELLENT !!! It added an intensity to the amateur bouts which was previously lacking.

Much less time grappling because everyone wanted strike.

The fans were much more into the amateur bouts.

Hi Mike

Technically there is no new rule AGAINST slapping while standing.

I think you meant the new rule ALLOWING punching to the head in amateur bouts while standing which was previously unallowed. LOL : )

Fight #1 ( exhibition bout )

Roland Sarria ( 194 ), RITC
went the distance
Richard Frye ( 189 ), Freestyle

So who won?

Hi Dudtown

The Commission designated this an exhibition bout because one contestant was 46 years old : )

Because it's an exhibition bout there is no formal scoring.

ANYONE who watched the bout would clearly have scored it 30-27 in favor of Sarria.

There was also an added complication. Richard Frye sustained a gash on his forehead earlier this week ( bar fight ) and was forced to use headgear.

Without the headgear he would have probably been KO'd.

Roland was very gracious in the post-fight interview complimenting EVERY fighter who has ever stepped in the cage because now he knows what it feels like.

He then removed the bandage from Richard Frye's forehead to reveal the cut for the cameras.

The Commission doctor told me after the fight he was surprised that the cut didn't re-open but that was solely because of the mandatory headgear.

Highlights of this fight can be seen next week on HD Net.

Roland won.

Devree has a lot of potential

MarkedCard - the AZ Commission formally changed the rules just two weeks ago.

Information only ( just in case anyone might have been wondering ).

The Predator did show up last night.

The Predator did FAIL his pre fight physical ... not what you think ... it was high blood pressure.

The Predator and his opponent are coming to RITC 127 TONIGHT where The Predator will try to pass his pre fight physical.

I'm not confident that The Predator will pass his pre fight physical so if you are coming to RITC 127 just to watch him please STAY HOME : )

MarkedCard - Frank wished they "changed the rules" last Saturday disallowing striking to the head.

The most amazing thing about that fight was Frank usually fights middleweight and Nick welterweight. I mistakenly thought Frank would have a size advantage. I was shocked when Nick "dwarfed" Frank and then totally dominated.

Time for Frank to retire.

jake devree is going places. plus, he's got one of the best coaches so get used to that hearing that name.
