Mixed Martial Arts - The Art of War -

Every thing's bigger in Texas, including the knockouts and tapouts! Mixed Martial Arts returns to Friday Fight Night when HDNet presents The Art of War from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. The main event matches up UFC veteran and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu legend Pedro Rizzo taking on former UFC World Heavyweight title challenger Justin Eilers.

Please tell me Pedro wins this one!!!

Pedro by mullet stompage.

"The main event matches up UFC veteran and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu legend Pedro Rizzo taking on former UFC World Heavyweight title challenger Justin Eilers."

  • Man, talk about deceptive hype. Rizzo a BJJ legend?

And mentioning Eilers as a UFC title challenger (technically true), but not mentioning the same about Rizzo, who challenged for the title multiple times, and merely calling him a "UFC veteran"?

Maybe they thought it would make Rizzo look bad since he lost each title shot, but then why even say it about Eilers, who never even deserved the title shot?

"Pedro by mullet stompage."

LOL. I can't believe the mullet hasn't made a comeback. The mullet says "business in the front and party in the back"! What other hair style offers such versatility?

TTT for Rizzo!!!!!!!!!!

RVT in da house!

Rizzo just couldn't win the title that Zufaa did everything they could to give him. Has he gotten over the whole freezing in big matches thing?

lol ufc 51 i was ridin down the elavator at the mandalay bay and eilers was in with me and said "you fighting tonight" I Looked at him like he was retarded and said "uhhh no" With smiled with his chipped toothed smile

early word is Rizzo wins by decision.

source is not direct

"Rizzo just couldn't win the title that Zufaa did everything they could to give him."

  • I'm not sure if it was Zuffa yet, but the UFC did give Rizzo an incomprehensibly exorbitant-for-its-time contract where Rizzo was making over $200k per fight. He was by far the highest paid fighter in the UFC. $200k back then was simply unheard of in the U.S.

They were really banking on him becoming a dominant and exciting HW Champ. But by the end of his contract, they were paying him that $200k for appearing in prelim fights.

"hasn't he always been Ruas Vale Tudo?"

  • Yep. But at least he'll never say his win was "100% Gracie jiu-jitsu," though. Unlike another certain Ruas protege.

cough, cough Babalu cough, cough

TTT! And I HOPE this one didn't go to decision! Alot of people (including myself) talk alot of trash on Eilers but he has been on a winning streak as of late.

I just got back from the Art of War - Rizzo beat Eilers by unanimous decision.

Side note, I got to meet Dan Severn and he was cool as hell - just talking and taking pics with all the fans.

Did you take pics w/Dan Severn? I hope you didn't have your fist up in one (typical fight stance) because if you did, Dan most likely went home, photoshopped the picture and you will be showing up on his fight card as a win.
