Nasty, nasty fight. Think it killed Rory's love of the game.
Known as the greatest mma fight of all time (according to tapology) I still think hendo rua was better
that being said this fight shows how ruthless Robbie lawler is and how little of a fuck he gives such an animal
great fight

Hendo/Shogun was a great fight but their collective lack of cardio affected the late rounds badly. Not something that I expect to see in a fight with two world class fighters. For that reason it negates it from being the greatest fight ever imo.
If Rory and Robbie isn't the greatest fight of all time it certainly has one of the greatest all time moments in any combat fight ever. The staredown at the end of round four is the embodiment of "warrior soul/bushido". Still gives me goosebumps.
My favorite fight is either this or Hunt vs Silva 1. Cant go wrong either way though.
Rory's blank expression between rounds was also awesome. It showed something about him is just "off." And it is genuine and not a tough guy act.

My issue with Hendo/Shogun is that it’s basically 2 halves of a one-sided fight whereas Lawler/McDonald was pretty solid with the back-and-forth action.
Put that rematch directly into my veins!!!!
I don't put hendo/Shogun in my top 3 or even that close to it.
Without question, not in any particular order I have:
Alvarez vs Chandler I
Lawler vs MacDonald II
Aldo vs Mendes II
Hendo/Shogun was amazing, how quickly people forget
Non N00B -Hendo/Shogun was amazing, how quickly people forget
No one forgot, it was a great fight and was only a few years ago. The rematch was great too. We just think other fights were better.
Just seems like typical mma stuff, forgotten after a few years.

Alvarez vs Chandler and Shogun vs Hendo happened in the same year

Totally agree i am Canadian so have always had a soft spot for Rory
but have also always love lawler, when he first came into the ufc was when I started watching mma so seeing them go at it also ranks as one of my favourite fights of all time
Robbie's back to back fights against Rory and Condit are two of the greatest ever.
