Just watched his 30 for 30..guy seemed like an animal ..thoughts on this guy? Where does he stand all time in boxing? Was his mma match fixed? Just imagine a prime Duran with mma training..oh my..
Was he a racist quitter? Did he have questionable heart?
Id love to watch his 30 for 30. Those are fantastic.
Guy was a beast
All time great. Maybe greatest LW of all time.
His fight with iran barkely blew me away. Iran was huge, like 20 lbs of muscle bigger and had went to decision with all time greats. Duran took punches no one his size should take and kept going like nothing happened.
Duran vs GGG?
What was Durans weakness?
Roberto Duran was a savage. An animal but a remarkably skilled and versatile animal. He was the fighter of the decade of the 70's,the greatest lightweight ever, and one of the top 8 to ever do.
Started boxing in bars in Panama as a teenager. Guy was tough as nails, I loved watching him fight when I was a kid and Duran v Barkely is one of the GOAT fights, ever.
I love G3 but I think Duran would beat his ass. Well, maybe, it would probly be a war.
ons ear - Duran vs GGG?
What was Durans weakness?
Food and whiskey
His most memorable fights were in the 80's but he was actually in his prime in the 70's at 135 pounds. A weight he never lost at.
By the time the 80's rolled around he had already been a pro for over a decade and had climbed several weight classes. He was 119 pounds when he turned pro in 1968. SRL fights were at 47,68...Hagler 60...Hearns 54
After Montreal he just didn't have that same constant fire. He still won world titles though.

Favorite boxer to play as in the fight night series
It's hard to make a list because of how many greats but this is my top 5
1-SRR
2-Harry Greb
3-Henry Armstong
4-Willie Pep
5-Roberto Duran
Benny Leonard,Jack Johnson,Sam Langford,Gene Tunney,Carlos Monzon,Alexis Arguello,Ezzard Charles,Archie Moore are some others I rate extremely high
<p>Outside of his second fight with Leonard that he was basically pushed into doing without proper training time, I don't think anyone can question his heart.
I'm surprised no one got a oscar for that movie

Ricardo Lopez deserves to be toward the top of the list.

Yes no doubt Duran had heart. He even proved it vs bigger guys. He was so hurt by Hearns he went to the wrong corner and his guys wanted to stop but Duran begged them to let him go back out there knowing the KO was imminent. The shot Barkley hit him with in the 7th would've put an elephant out
This is my take on no mas
Duran was embarrassed by how the fight was going and thought "fuck this I know I'm better than that guy because when I was in shape I won. We'll do an immediate rematch and I'll be more prepared and win again"
That was a huge mistake. It should be noted some people have the impression Leonard was slaughtering Duran but that's not true. Leonard was beginning to pull away but it wasn't a beating.
I don't know but that chick he was with in his movie is fucking hot!
Heystro -I didn't realize he had 119 pro bouts until I looked him up right now. That's crazy.
He was 71-1 when he fought Leonard.
