roberto traven: anyone train w him

does anyone who posts here train at traven's academy? I'm moving to
atlanta in a few weeks and I'd love to talk to someone about his school.

my email = shibumi (at) uga (dot) edu

thanks!

i train mostly at sandy springs (traven teaches downtown), but i train with him every saturday. he is an incredible instructor and pretty miserable to roll with. not to toot my won horn, but i have been pretty successful in high level competition and traven pretty much smashes right through my game. if you have any specific questions, you can shoot me an email.

In my one experience with him, he lead the warm-ups. I would describe his warm-ups as "murderous" on an old man like myself.

yeah, I have heard his warmups are brutal, as well. Haven't trained with him, though.

haha yeah. forgot to mention that. i can pretty much guarantee no one here has ever done a harder warm-up than the ones traven will put you through. he is the man though. the only other person i have ever rolled with that can tool me like traven is fabio gurgel. just immense top pressure.

I got to roll and learn from Ze Mario Esfiha MacCord who is a 2nd degree BB under traven. And he is an incredible teacher and tacticion, so i can only imagine that traven is amazing as well. Both of them have won the mundials and faught well in abu dhabi.

I train at Travern's regularly. It's closer to where I live than the main Sandy Springs location. His warmups really suck, but they do have variety. His instruction is good. I think he makes it a point to train and drill takedowns and takedown defenses at least one a week which is something that doesn't always happen at alot of places oh and there's no gi on fridays.

Wow I didn't realise Traven was no longer down under. If you put a post on the Australasia forum you may get some feedback from people who trained with him while he was here.

Danny "Deathroll" Higgins used to train with him.

how long was Traven in Australia?
