Robin Black breaks down Faber vs. Bruce Leroy

Hizzay - Robin Black bugs me.

.

I usually don't type cunty things on here, and especially not about fighters/mma personalities. And after typing out that he bugs me I realized I would NEVER say that to his face. So why say it on here? Plus him coming on here doesn't make us look much better since he's being a good guy.

Im not judging you since I started the douchiness but we should probably just keep it to ourselves.

Now I just feel like an ass haha

Ah its all cool man.

Its an unavoidable reality of media today. We see things, have a knee-jerk reaction and (unlike a few years ago) have an instant route to be able to express it in a visceral way.

If we're having a weird day or eve a weird MOMENT we can express a random thought without really thinking.

Its not you, its the culture and the media at our disposal.

Once you're aware of it you do it less, but you still do it on occasion.

I lashed out at Kevin Iole once on twitter even though I respect him lol. I've freaked out on threads on smaller Canadian message boards.

Its just one more small life hazard we ave to be aware of.

Its kinda like knowing Doritos are trying to get you to pay them to make you unhealthy.

Doritos win the battle sometimes because they're delicious but, to be healthy, you have to be aware to avoid them as much as you can.

(I'm not 100% sure this analogy makes sense lol.)

Anyoo, fighting rules!

Quoting to remember to VU when I reset

VU Robin, you're the man all the way.

LOVE your breakdowns and your way to handle negativity is perfect.

I want MORE of these.

Do you do one breakdown per show or more?

I don't have the fight network.

Great stuff once again

Thanks so much man.

I really love doing these. When you watch fights dozens of times in slow motion looking for patterns and meaning, it feels like you're exploring and looking for cool hidden truths.

They're not all after fights. Sometimes you break down concepts that might be applicable in upcoming match ups, sometimes you can look at abstract combat concepts. When my workload slows down I go out into left field a bit.
Ramdeen and I help produce the show with Glen, the head producer at FN, and I'm free to research and look at anything I like. They like these and encourage me to follow my curiosity. It's a rare freedom in TV.

I absolutely love doing this work. I get so excited to build these. I'm so glad people dig them.

Thanks a lot for the positive feedback guys.

Here's an old one that I'm pretty proud of (I've done 40ish or more now I think). It was one that took a lot of research but turned out pretty good. It kinda made me confident that I could go deeper into this stuff:

CHEERS!

Thanks again means a lot to me.

Robin Black - And thanks guys!

RB, I love your show "5 Rounds" - it makes my Mondays about %5 better.

Thx!

Robin used to 'bug me', too, at first.
I believe it was about a year--or so--ago that he posted a thread on here looking for a place here in Pittsburgh to watch Bellator. I (of course) needed to respond and point a fellow UGer in the right direction. After that, I decided I'd look him up since I saw he was a green namer and figured if he was cool, maybe I'd drop by and buy a beer or something, but I judged a book by its cover and stayed home.

But the fact is: Robin knows his stuff and he's in a position where he can spread the sport through media outlets that most of us can't. So, while he may have some quirks that might come across as annoying at first (or at face-value in my case), he puts together a solid review of fights with a sincere passion that most of us have lost over time. So, while Robin may have stayed in the 80s with his personal style, his MMA knowledge has certainly evolved with the sport and presents it in a very good way--which, might urk some of you 'Pride Neva Die! Guys.

So, give the guy a chance. And Robin, if you're ever back in the Steel City, first one's on me.

Hizzay - Robin Black bugs me.

Dude has a good break down, but he dresses and acts like a complete tool.

If he'd quit trying so hard to be one of the cool kids, his info would be much more respected. Take Helwani for example. Dude is who he is and he makes it work for him. It's obviously worked so well that he's gone from being an interwebs reporter, to a legit informational figure in the industry.

Robin is quickly turning into one of the top mma analysis guys in the world.

Great breakdown Phone Post 3.0

Jack Skellington - Robin is quickly turning into one of the top mma analysis guys in the world.

Agreed. I think his unique background of playing in a band(s) and fighting, allows him a comfortability level that you don't get with a lot of pundits out there. Some guys are comfortable on-screen, but don't know the sport that well. Robin has both attributes.

Get this man on rogans podcast, mma enthusiasm levels will be at an all time high. Phone Post 3.0

Dude that's crazy talk but it really mean a lot to me that you'd say (type) it. Thank you man.

KidP thanks dude I loved yer city beers next time for sure.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys cheers.

Yes, he should get on the JRE. Phone Post 3.0

Thing is, you don't just 'get' on one of the top podcasts in the solar system. You have to do something that would make Joe ask you.

I'm not there yet. Maybe one day.

I'm in L.A next week tho and I'm pumped to go train with Eddie Bravo!!

:)

Wow, just watched the one you recommended.

Again, superb.

He actually trained and fought, unlike most MMA 'media' clowns, dude knows his shit. period.
