It was interesting to watch Luke Rockhold assert the reality that a crushing top game always destroys an elite takedown defense and standup skillset.

I'm strictly talking merit, not money. UFC is the exclusive domain of proven fighters with unimpeachable credentials. CM Punk, Paige VanZant, Jessamyn Duke, Patrick Walsh, etc. If Askren had won an Olympic bronze instead of merely making the team, or maybe 3 or 4 NCAA titles instead of 2, I could see Dana giving him a shot out of curiosity. Until then, though, WSOF is the only path to legitimacy outside of TUF.

I know they fought 4 years ago but the first fight between them wasn't that close. Jacare's bjj was just as good then as it is now. They have both improved but Rockhold is more well rounded and I do think he deserves the next title shot.

I think it'd be a fucking amazing fight and wouldn't like to call it. The fans would be the winners. People who don't watch him fight need to stop thinking Askren is a boring lay n prayer, he works non stop, passes smoother than almost anyone we've seen, and has good GnP.
As I say, he deserves to be in the UFC, but it's way more his fault that he isn't than anyone you're trying to make the bad guy. Askren continues to fuck himself over by insulting a potential employer, in no walk of life is doing that ever a good idea right?
