Rockhold: I am better than Weidman everywhere

Well, then why didn't he demolish Vitor...and even faster?

Plot hole IMO.

Rockhold is definitely lesser striker than Weidman. Weidman will put him on his back heel like he does with everyone and kill Rockhold kicking game with pressure and takedowns.

In!

I feel this way too. Rockhold does not come off as a cool guy at all.........

I think he literally has nothing for Chris.

then you're just plain dumb. What an ignorant thing to say

I'm not dumb and there is quite a lot of knowledge behind my statement so it's not ignorant.

  • Chris has stood toe-to-toe with Anderson and Lyoto and out struck both of them.

  • He is a Matt Serra/Renzo Gracie trained BLACK BELT who happens to mix BJJ and Wrestling together like no one else I have ever seen

  • He hits like a truck KOing Anderson (almost twice), Vitor, Uriah Hall and Munoz

  • He has a serious chin taking shots from Lyoto, Anderson and Vitor without being phased mostly. Vitor's flurry all landed on the sides of his head and he looked totally a-ok when he came off the fence.

What is Luke better at???

  • Wrestling = NO, not even close

  • BJJ = NO, not even close

  • Stand-up = NO

  • Power = NO, not even close

  • Chin = Even?

What exactly does Luke bring to the table that Chris has to genuinely fear? Luke is tough as nails, strong and super well-rounded but I don't see anything he has that Chris isn't light years better at...

Actually, all this talk kinda reminds me of how everyone thought DC was going to be competitive with Jones...

I used to like Luke Cuckold. Him and Cormier are becoming tools.

rockhold has always been the same, but he has good points.

He is taller, longer, probably a better striker, has good TDD and a legit ground game.

I don't see a more interesting matchup outside of jones at this point.

He is in no way a better striker at all.

Do people not realize how special Weidman beating up fricken Machida on the feet is? Cos he outclassed him big time rounds 1-3 (then gassed a bit).

Mousasi got out foxed, and Luke was getting tagged till the slip/trip.

It will be a very interesting 1st two rounds.
You mean hesitant do nothing machida?

Did he gas or did machida decide to fight? Phone Post 3.0

Oh you mean the Lyoto who KO'd this list of guys?

  • Munoz

  • Thiago Silva

  • Randy

  • Ryan Bader

  • Rashad

  • Dolloway

Is he better at wrestling and BJJ than Weidman nope, is he a better striker, I would say that Weidman has better hands but Rockhold has better leg kicks, and when the fight happens I think Weidman will win on points over five rounds

I'm not sure why people think Weidman is better on the ground than Rockhold. Luke has subbed Machida and Bisping. Weidman's sub resume in mma is tom lawlor and jesse bongfeldt.

Oh yeah, I forgot, he lost to Andre Galvao in the first round of an Adcc tournament without scoring a single point. I mean, " he gave Galvao all he could handle". Lol... Phone Post 3.0

Rockhold was not as good at defeating Belfort as Weidman was lol

The difference is Rockhold is not going to be able to take Weidman down. While Weidman is going to take Rockhold to the ground & pound him out.

Rockhold is being smart by promoting himself to be Weidmans next fight. Phone Post 3.0

Rockhold is a decent little fighter.

Was gifted a decision against Jacare and got his ass knocked out by Vitor.

Not on Weidmans level.

Agreed. I was pissed about that BS decision against Jacare. Luke did nothing but jab and run away for rounds 3-5 and before that got taken down and fended off subs for rounds 1-2. And then he won..............................

This is just more AKA marketing.

AKA Mktg = "DC is gonna kill Jones. Jones can't take him down. He's going to take him down and GnP him!"

Reality = DC gets dominated by Jones handily

AKA Mktg = "Luke is more well-rounded and will soundly defeat Weidman!"

Future Reality = Luke loses to Weidman and doesn't give him much of a fight

At least they have people talking about the fight which is fun.

I like rockhold next, I would just like to see him and Vitor square up again first. Rockhold seemed to keep his hands low, like he was waiting for a shoot from vitor. Maybe he can redeem his ufc debut against a non trt Belfort. But I don't see him finishing Weidman just yet.

I think he has nicer eyes. They're dreamy. That's about it IMO. Phone Post 3.0

Weidman fans are delusional about his standing in MMA and the P4P rankings. You don't get to beat one guy and steal all of his credentials instantly. For promotional reasons, the UFC would like you to believe that just by winning one fight against a P4P great makes you even greater, but long time fight fans know that isn't true. ((TJ Dillishaw is another example)

This thread is full of people in full-out attack mode, but the truth is that the question marks about Weidman are fair.

I understand a win is a win, but his fights against Anderson were anything but cut and dry clean victories, he was fading in a big way against an aging Machida and was nearly put to the mat for good (but now I'm reading he won the fight on the feet? weird.), and he was 1 good shot away from going to sleep against Belfort before getting total control of the fight (kudos to him but that looked bad for a minute).

You just don't see the P4P greats get into trouble like this in almost every title fight. That's what separates them from common champions.

Yet if you follow the narrative of Weidman's biggest supporters he ran through all of them better than GSP could have dreamed of in his prime.

Almost seems as though the bar is set at different levels for different people.

Is this a Metamoris grappling match? Weidman doesnt have trade submissions with Luke, he just needs to use his strong wrestling base to keep Luke down and smash his face in with G&P

Alumynabjj - He's better at catching kicks with his head than Weidman. That is for sure.
No Weidman is pretty good. Go watch the Machida fight. Phone Post 3.0
