I'm sorry but the 550 fighters on the roster don't compare to someone like Rockhold, or Rousey, or McGregor. Neither in terms of career or media presence.
Guys like Bisping and Henderson will spend a decade being a gatekeeper because they have no other options. Someone like Schaub however will move onto podcasting, PVZ into dancing, Rockhold into modeling, etc.

I'm hearing alot of talk about how Rockhold isn't a celebrity outside of mma. And to that I'd say, give it time. This sport made a rich celebrity of an Irish manlet who trains with pool noodles and sports a man bun with a monkey chest tattoo.
Luke is a tall, handsome, white guy with a great smile and a body to die for. He comes from a rich family and is well-spoken. If this guy doesn't have the makings of a star then please show me one. And hopefully it's not some Irish plumber with a crap accent I tower over at 5'11".
Luke is humble, and was a true fighter. But the championship gave him a taste of a different kind of life. One he will now embrace fully, leaving the ufc as a young man leaves their childhood home.
