As soon as Buchecha went to defend the tricep grip, I knew he was done. Roger has very underestimated judo and is a handful to take down. Just think, Buchecha takes everyone down, everyone. Roger retires from jiujitsu near Rickson status. A loss on points to Xande in the absolute finals one year, and at Brown belt on points to Jacare. He's never been submitted. Not in Abu Dhabi or any tournament. GOAT, of our generation.
yup saw your post on the bjj ground. roger trains/ed judo w/ nakamura and other olympic level players on a regular basis, especially when he was in london for a long time. his uchimata is that level. his grip fighting is that level. to be honest, buchecha trying his picks and singles when roger has full grip (especially overhead) -- it's a not happening scenario. pretty sure he could have slammed buchecha as well, but probably didn't want to create a scramble situation and be subject to transition variables.
