Rolling with Ryron

Ryron worked with me over the weekend.

He probably makes me look as bad as I actually am. :)

Don't take it personal. He does it to alot of black belts. He is very frustrating if you are trying to catch him. He has outstanding defense and so he actually lets you go for things. The moment you slip he takes advantage and go's on offense. He literally keeps it playful. Phone Post

I don't. Last year, he REALLY wrecked me. But then he wrecked everyone else too.

Quite a few people call it the Xande Sweep.

One of my buddies was there, he was the guy with the nervous loud laugh at the beginning, blue belt named Rudy. Did you meet him? He's a great training partner and friend. Phone Post

I just realized what's really funny... I tried to hit the very same sweep on him at about 1:05. He doesn't budge.

How did he break out of that triangle at the :39 mark?

He took his right hand and touched it to my left shoulder twice. My legs popped right open!

That was fun to watch, thanks for posting.

Most likely. We had some guests this weekend; some from great distances. Hope he enjoyed our school and the seminar.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was a fun roll. He really walks the walk.

Thanks for sharing! Was lt different to grapple with him compared to other black belts you rolled with? Phone Post

His sensitivity and movement is the best I've ever felt. He's very willing to attack, be attacked, advance, or concede position, all effortlessly. He's every bit as good as you might imagine you'd be if you spent your entire life doing BJJ with only the best of training partners and instructors.

I got to roll with Rener this weekend after one of his Atlanta seminars. Someone recorded it, but I don't have the video. I got wrecked. It was simultaneously both demoralizing and inspirational. I've rolled with, and subsequently had my ass handed to me by, some high level black belts. However, I've never rolled with anyone who felt like they were operating so effortlessly. It was a totally different experience.

On a side note, the Rener seminars were probably the best seminars I've ever attended. I'm sure the Ryron ones were of similar quality.

Good thing you guys didnt turn it up 50%.
