They're kind of painting MMA in a negative light in a subtle way.

Would have been cool if they included Rory's next tweet about "Best time of my life."

they should ad that he was paid 59k under it to make the ufc feel like shit thats a joke.

My body takes less punishment for more money as a plumber. What the fuck is up with a pro athlete making 60000 for that. Phone Post 3.0

he didnt make 60k he made 59k

It might be time for the UFC to stop hiding the total fighter pay, PPV points even if the fighters don't want them to. Stuff like this really makes them look bad and can harm the company, and all of their employees.

Is it 1998?

Why is it still cool to do this? Too many "skinhead white guys"?

That's his disclosed payout for showing up. We also know he was paid an additional 50k for FOTN and 30k by Reebok and he has a deal with Monster Energy that paid him an undisclosed amount. Disclosed pay, he earned 139k.

For a big fight like that, I wouldn't be shocked at all if he got a six figure locker room bonus.

Also consider, many fighters take worse beatings for much less in and outside the UFC for the opportunity to become champ.

Rory isn't complaining, don't understand why other people are. Leave that to his manager. Phone Post 3.0

He made a 50k bonus? Right. What was his contracted pay? Phone Post 3.0

CNN hates MMA

Two weeks ago they highlighted Kimbo Slice as MMA's biggest star on their front page.

I'm sure that whenever there's a Jon Jones-like fuckup, they are all over it.

But you never see them feature any articles that put our sport in a positive light.

wow 139k with a possible 100k bonus so 239k

Comparing Rory to boxing's 2 biggest stars. Yeah, that makes complete and total sense. Throw in the paydays of Tom Brady and LBJ while you're at it.

I'm all for paying the fighters more, but trying to compare the drawing power of Rory MacDonald to that of Pacquiao or Mayweather alone would be silly, much less the two of them together. Theres not a fighter in the UFC thats even close to as popular as either of those guys.

That being said, I felel McDonald's base pay should at least be 6-figures considering his ranking and the fact that he's challenging for the belt. He's the one who signed the contract though. Phone Post 3.0

They'd never do it. If they did you'd see the fighters are still getting screwed when you compare it to event revenue. UFC 189 is going to have an event revenue of at least 30 million dollars and their disclosed pay is only 2 million dollars to the fighters, like 6% of the event revenue.
