                    <blockquote>

"I think it's just too soon marketing-wise," Rousey told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "I know that I'm capable of beating any woman in the world at any moment, but I think that if me and Cris 'Cyborg' were to fight today, I don't think that many people would be hyped up about it or be looking forward to it. That's why I've been so adamant about moving down at getting the belt at 135 first so when a fight between me and Cris 'Cyborg' does eventually happen, it will be a big deal."

It's an interesting point, especially when one considers Santos recently fought for the first time in 18 months and that the future of female fighting was uncertain until this past week, when UFC president Dana White confirmed Strikeforce would indeed remain operational for the foreseeable future.

Rousey, currently a featherweight, believes the best way to help build interest for the matchup is to drop to 135 pounds and take on current champ (and budding Twitter rival) Miesha Tate. In Rousey's eyes, the process would allow her to gain valuable in-cage experience, as well as increase her visibility by wrapping a belt around her waist.

The outspoken Rousey has developed some critics who believe she should fight Santos right now rather than looking to leave the weightclass, and some feel she may be ducking a fight with the Brazilian brawler.

Rousey scoffs at the accusation.

"There's a big difference between timing and running," Rousey said. "I'm trying to time things appropriately so it will be great for women's MMA in general, not just me.

hard to argue with that, especially when you consider that she had her very first pro fight earlier this year

If I was her I'd also want to make more than the 4 and 4 she's gotten for her last two fights to fight cyborg.

Fighting cyborg in her rookie year with what 5 mins of mma experiennce would be completely ignorant on her part.

Fighting cyborg in her rookie year with what 5 mins of mma experiennce would be completely ignorant on her part.

Also u would have to be ignorant to expect her to be fighting cyborg at this stage of her career.

"This fight needs to happen. Just not with me."- Rockin Rhonda Rousey

Less than a month ago she was claiming one of her reasons for dropping to 135 was to take the 135lb title to hype a fight with Cyborg then take the 145lb title. Now she claims she wants to fight Cyborg at 135 or 140. Now Ronda claims she only wanted to 145 only until Cyborg said she was considering 135, wtf. What about wanting both belts?? Suddenly she doesn't want both belts? This is beginning to get very, very sad. If she is the so called new face of women's MMA it is in deep trouble.

Still claiming she is doing this to help all of women's MMA. If by all of women's MMA she means Ronda Rousey, then yes that is totally accurate.

I hate when people start making shit up just to make asinine arguments ^ Phone Post

"You don't need to have an extensive resume to fight and be the best in the world; you just have to be the best in the world. I think I am that."

prove it and fight santos or shut the fuck up already

Over the course of only one interview she still can't manage to keep up with her lies.

The bottom line is that she is ducking Cyborg for whatever reason.

Rousey started learning how to strike one year ago, give her five more minutes... jeez

i wonder what kind of mothers people like 58miles had

Cyborg's recent dominant performance just reinforced the fact that she's the Mt Everest of women's MMA.

Expecting a fresh-faced rookie with less than 5 minutes of cage time step up and fight her now is absolutely ludicrous.

If she only has 4 fights, then Cyborg's name should never come out of her mouth. Period.

Get some experience, until then shut the fuck up.

she needs a few more fights, but thats going to be THE fight for women's MMA, IMO.

She needs a couple more fights to build the fight up. I don't think she will have any problems dominating Cyborg but the buildup is important. She needs itleast 2 more wins to build her name

Lol. Rousey - marketing.

GSP - ducking.

Ronda Rousey on waiting to fight Cyborg: "The more time that goes by, I feel myself getting way better, whereas how can (she) become better at being a goon?"

Enough said. This woman is sickening.

She's getting ahead of herself. Ronda has no stand up game and fighting Cyborg is only gonna expose her and get a vicious KO loss to her record.
