Dutch heavyweight Stefan Struve will be facing TUF10 season winner Roy ‘Big Country’ in his next fight, Fighters Only can reveal. The fight is set to take place at UFC Fight Night 21 in North Carolina and at least one of the fighters is understood to have returned a signed bout agreement.
Card so far:
Nate Quarry vs. Jorge Rivera
Roy Nelson vs. Stefan Struve
Wow...sure not giving Big Country an easy debut. This has to be on the main card too right?

It's only the second fight announced so it's not official yet but I don't see why it wouldn't be.
My bad...I was thinking UFN 21 was the Vera/Jones card that is already loaded with a ton of fights...I didn't realize they were calling it something else.
IrishRottie - Easy for Nelson. As a Nelson fan, I strongly disagree.
A 7'0 tall fighter who is highly proficient in both submissions and striking is an "easy" for no one, especially an undersized and one-dimensional HW.

Struve is gonna have a really difficult time getting his 6'11 frame back to his feet if Nelson gets a takedown.

Look at other HW's, especially the seven-footer that he's fighting. Is Roy just as tall, strong, etc?
Now look at Roy's strengths, and how he wins fights... is it mixed up, or mostly positioning/submissions?
i see Roy taking him down and GnP the whole fight.
Good matchup.
kick his ass, Struve!
Another win for Big Country. I think he put a few good wins together till he gets to JDS, Cain, Carwin, Big Nog, Mir, Lesnar. I just don't see him beating those guys.
Badder Harry - kick his ass, Struve!
love this fight

Not sure, but I coulda swore the big fat guy I saw knock his opponent cold last month was Nelson, not much positioning or submitting involved there.
The Moon vs. The Skyscraper!!!

Uhm yeah.. Okay (You really are a moron between this and the shields/hendo-thread)
RedCoat - I'm a huge fan of Struve and there is no doubt he wants this fight on the ground.
His striking isn't nearly good enough to stand and trade with Roy so he'll want to let Roy take him down and then work his submissions. I'm telling you guys, Stefan Struve is the future.
Struve will lose on the ground if it hits the mat. Roy has an amazing top game. Struve is a good bjj guy, but Roy is on another level on the mat.
I think Struve's best chance in this fight is using his range and tagging Roy over and over again. Thats the best way to beat Roy. Not on the mat
RedCoat -These are some silly statements, while Struve's triangle win was nice, Roy is a waaaaaaaaaay more experienced grappler and his top game is very good. I dont think Struve wants to be under Roy who has shown good passing skills, subs and GnP from the top.Ecko Unltd -RedCoat - I'm a huge fan of Struve and there is no doubt he wants this fight on the ground.

True in some areas. While Big Country does have some great BJJ, all Struve has to do is throw them long legs up and he has a world of submissions to chose from.
In my opinion BC is much more dangerous to Struve when he is standing. Struve's chin sits right out there and the way he holds is head plays right into the big overhand right that Roy always throws.
I think Struve needs to not be afraid to pull guard. He should be comfortable enough to be confident to defend any submission attempts and in all honesty, what the hell is BC going to do from the top position? He'll try to get the crucifix/belly to face position and pitter patter Struve. I don't think that will fly in a fight in which people pay money to see.
Cool!
Big Country rnd 2 TKO. He will use his striking and also his top game to wear Struve down, and finosh him with strikes on the ground
