Rules & guidelines on the 'Fighter bashing' rule!

I am wondering if we can get the official policy on the fighter bashing rule that is in place on the UG/OG.

It seems as though there is a massive increase in people being shitty to fighters, some of which post here (and other that probs used to but don't because of crap like this)

I've brought it to Mods attention and nothing has happened apart from brushing me off, but I think we need to know what the actual rule is so people know where the line is and also the punishment actually happening when people break it.

This is a great site and we're blessed to have fighters, commentators, promoters and so on have posted here, but it's decreasing rapidly and this is part of the reason and seriously needs looking at.

Agree with OP, however, it's a shame it even has to be defined.  I realize it probably does need to be clear cut for some folks, especially those who thrive on posting "shocking" stuff.

In my eyes, its like one of those things you learn in second grade.  Just be nice to people (fighters).  Don't type mean shit about fighters, don't write anything you wouldn't be willing to say face to face, etc.  If there is a fighter you don't like, or one does something you don't agree with, express it in a respectful manner, or not at all.

But then you always have that jackass that says "Fighter X is a fucknut and I'd say it to his face" (we all know he wouldn't).  Those turds need moderated.

(7) is in violation of proprietary rights of others, including, without limitation, copyrighted software, music, photographs, text, videos or artwork. Of particular concern is the unauthorized copying, duplication, or transferring of instructional and event video. Do not post the url of any web site that offers bootleg video, either for sale in videotape or DVD form, or for download.

The appropriate dissemination of information about your service or product is allowed with any professional membership. If your efforts are charitable, no professional membership is required.

(I) interfere with or disrupt the Service, computer servers, or boards accessible through the Service;
(J) behave in a belligerent, inhospitable manner, that casts the great sport of MMA in a poor light. The simple standard is to post only as you would if you were speaking to the person face to face. Prohibited conduct includes but is not limited to:
(1) fighting words, those words that by their very utterance inflict injury or tend to incite an immediate breach of the peace. These include but are not limited to racial, sexual, and religious slurs. If for whatever reason you wish to engage in a MMA contest with another person, it must be approached through the appropriate channels.
(2) swearing at another member of the page, joking or not, or attacking them in a comparable manner.
(3) posting curse words in a thread titles, including masked spellings like Bit** or Sh!T. Swearing should be kept to a minimum generally
(4) posting on the topic of illegal drug use in anything but an educational, informative manner.
Of particular concern are attacks directed at page moderators. Of highest concern are prominent figures in the field, notably fighters. These individuals are due respect and admiration. If you must post negative comments, these must be respectful, as if you were speaking to the person in question face to face. However, prominent figures in the community are in turn subject to the Terms of Service identically to any other member of the community, without exception.
(K) post content that is not family friendly. In addition to photos and videos which contain nudity or sexual activities, here are some other examples of unacceptable content:
(1) Lewd or provocative images;
(2) Crude or indecent language, including adult stories;
(3) Sexual tips or advice;
(4) Sexual fetish sites (e.g. foot fetish content);
(5) Adult toys or products;
(6)Ads or links to external sites containing adult content.
In short, if you wouldn't be comfortable viewing what you post at work or with family members around, then it probably isn't appropriate to post on MixedMartialArts.com.

with that, Rockhold crushes Bisping within 2 rounds

So i cant offer to give female fighter mustache rides anymore..... Phone Post 3.0

Look no further to realize this site wipes its ass with these User Conduct rules.

IMO, a subjective application of rules is the worst possible kind. And that's all we have around here - reds enforcing rules when they want against who they want rather than uniformly. If the rules are bad, change them. If they're not, follow them. Simple.

Now go ahead....call me a faggot. It's literally okay, despite the rule sited above. And I like it....so why the stupid rule? Phone Post 3.0

there is many variables to the rules here on fighter bashing

Me too -- at least the majority of the time.  I have may have slipped a little now and then, but even my slip is still going to be somewhat appropriate.

Make everybody have to verify who they are and not just blues. Most of the mouthy wankers are only happy to talk shit when they are anon.

With that Bisping punches Rockhold for 5 rounds and he goes home looking like Hey You guys dude from goonies. Phone Post 3.0

What is bashing?

Some people go overboard while some people just critique someone and get yelled at for 'bashing'.

We don't live in a fucking protective bubble...the Internet is NOT a safe place if you're a sensitive fighter or for anyone for that matter.

I entirely get not outright bashing a fighter (i.e. 'so and so is a fag!'), but some people cry if you say a fighter sucks or you don't like them. That's called sports and being a passionate fan.

Where is the line drawn in this soft soft world we are in? Phone Post 3.0
