I just thought of this. Who would have won this fight? Rulon is probably going to lose if Rickson can pull guard, but Rulon would be backing up the whole time firing that long jab.
Even if Rickson dives in and pulls guard Rulon would only be trying to stand. He is a very wide body so staying attached against a guy that only wants to stand isn’t easy.
I can see Rulon winning a boring ass fight, but it is hard to bet against Rickson who has so much more experience.

I don’t remember that fight very well, but it seems like Rulon refused to go to the ground with Yoshida and just smashed him with a telephone pole jab the whole fight. Would be tough for Rickson to deal with.

That jab seemed very long and straight, like a piston. He snapped it out and back to his face nicely. I don’t think the threw a right the whole fight and he didn’t need to. I don’t think Rickson would out strike him.
I’ve met Rulon a couple times and he is a legit barrel of a man. Also, surprisingly nimble. Guys a damn good ice skater. No way it goes to the mat.
