RUMOR about Romero is...

Rumor circulating around some russian wrestlers is, Yoel Romero was goat of freestyle wrestling. Could have won all his matches basically, played with wrestlers 50 pounds over him, beat Saitiev 20-0 when they trained together. When competing he made semis or better BUT, representing Cuba, he then didn't give it 110% for some reason. Supposedly. Phone Post 3.0

This is definitely a rumor, no doubt about that Phone Post 3.0

Dude is a freak athlete on a whole other level. Wish hd started earlier in MMA. Phone Post 3.0

He fights very casually

cold blooded

probably is taking ice water injections backstage

The thing they're saying is he could have done better at the finals in the worlds. Phone Post 3.0

Cubans in general are suspected of throwing matches. They are like 1-12 (or something like that) in world-championship matches in the last ten years or so. That's sort of odd.

Guys also defect, like Romero and Frank Chamizo. So it seems that money is a real issue for their top wrestlers.

That said, there is no evidence at all that Romero threw any matches. The bro had to face some of the biggest studs of the era. Sajidov, Saitiev, and Sanderson were all better than the average world champion, and each probably had the skill to dominate other weight classes at the time. It's weird they all had to compete against each other.

Legit. I'm just sharing. They sound very assured and thus enthusiastic about his skills. Phone Post 3.0

I really doubt he threw the match against Les Gutches. They had quite the rivalry. Phone Post 3.0
