Ok this may be the stupidest question I ever ask but I was thinking about it at work today and now Im curious.
Would running in water be a good way to work cardio? Let say you put on a weight vest to stop from floating, got into a pool up to your middle, upper chest and started to sprint. Would this be effective?
The way Im looking at it the resistance of the water would make running harder and the also put lest impact on your joints.
Once again I freely admit this may be the stupidest question I ever ask but i figured no better place then the UG to ask.
Not true! My girlfriend just got a membership to the Watertown Jewish Elderly Community Center and I intend on running laps in that pool every day! (except on the sabbath.)
My whole point of my post was, why dont you just swim? you are in a pool.. that is what it's for. Swimming is a total body workout, no impact, and great for anaerobic and aerobic endurance. Why reinvent the wheel?

do the big wave surfer training: dive to the bottom, pick up a rock for weight and then run along the bottom, release the rock to go back up for air, then repeat.
