Several people have asked me how I think I stack up for UFC7. Below is chart
illustrating how I feel I fit into the UFC line up.
(1)
Marco Ruas
(2)
Harold Howard
Ryan Parker Jerry Harris
Remco Pardoel
(3)
Larry Cureton
Paul Varelans
Abdoul-Aye N'Gom
Notice I have the fighters in three groupings. I feel Mr. Ruas will "kick my ass" no matter what I do (assuming he really is high ranking BJJ as well as Muay Thai).
I feel that I have a good chance against the fighters in group "(2)". I feel that Mr. Howard may have a small advantage over me due to unpredictability and aggressiveness. I feel Mr. Harris and I will likely
be equally matched (although I really don't know much about him). I think I may have a slight advantage over Mr. Pardoel (I really like Remco but his entries seem to leave a lot open).
I feel that fighters in group "(3)" lack the infighting/submissions skills need to beat me. No insult intended. Just my personal opinion, I could be
wrong and get seriously trashed by any of them...
So why am I entering if I feel only roughly equal to 4 of the fighters and and way too underskilled to deal with one of them?
Well, I want to learn more about myself, my style, and my training. I will learn as much or more losing as I will winning.
I also feel that more than fighting ability enters into the event. The draw has a lot to do with the outcome as does how the fighters are feeling on that particular day. If Mr. Ruas feels only "so-so" and has a tough draw but I feel "great" and have a "lucky" draw then I just might actually
win this event (well I can dream can't I?).
Best Regards,
Ryan
