sambo vs. bjj thread on the ug

http://www.mma.tv/TUF/index.cfm?ac=ListMessages&PID=1&TID=602793&FID=1

someone started this post and i figured i'd post it here to see if there were any ideas from more sambo players.

i used to do sambo but now train bjj and am learning a ton more (the quality/ammount of instruction was low at the sambo school, and it is great at the bjj academy) i'm still interested in sambo though. i just wanted to be able to read some responses to more experienced sambists.

Another style vs. style. I stay away from that.I'd put my 2 cents in but rather not partake in such a debate, means nothing.BJJ this, Sambo that, big deal!
Just train in whatever you enjoy. Those who debate too much in this stuff are usually the ones who don't train much.

ditto

"Those who debate too much in this stuff are usually the ones who don't train much. "

So true.

supasiba!

I've been training in BJJ for over a year and from watching clips and highlights of sambo and judo I really can't see two much of a difference between the three anyways. The only thing that really looks differnt to me is that Judo and Sambo concentrate more on takedowns where BJJ concentrates more on the ground. Are there really any other differences? Is there a difference between Judo and Sambo?

Florida...

I will ttt some old threads on this topic

Cool, thanks man.
