If you’re a fan of “Samurai Jack” then you’ll want to circle March 11 on your calendar. That’s when the time-displaced warrior makes his return to television past part of Cartoon Network’s Toonami programming block.
The Season Five premiere date was announced in an Adult Swim bump, and then shared on Twitter. In the promo, the question, “Is [Season 5] still definitely happening? What’s going on?” is answered with, “March 11th, 11:30pm is what’s going on.”
Creator Genndy Tartakovsky revealed in 2015 that the beloved series would return for a fifth season, moving from its familiar spot on Cartoon Network to the more mature Adult Swim block.
Premiering in 2001, the acclaimed series follows a time-displaced samurai on a quest to defeating the shape-shifting demon Aku, who destroyed his father’s kingdom. Praised for its animation style and epic battle scenes, “Samurai Jack” aired for four seasons before being canceled in 2004 by Cartoon Network. During that time it earned four Emmy Awards.
“Samurai Jack” will premiere Saturday, March, 11 at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT on Cartoon Network.
